Starship Troopers enlist date
Demo fired up too.
A release date has been shot out for Empire Interactive and Strangelite's first-person shooter, Starship Troopers, with news of a playable demo on its way too.
The PC game, based on the 1997 movie (which itself is based, albeit tenuously, on the 1959 sci-fi novel) will get a full launch for retail inspection in the UK on October 26th, with a playable demo lined-up in a few short weeks - September 1st being mooted.
Empire currently says the demo will be single-player, although will confirm this and more details soon, so you can continue your daydream of stepping into Johnny Rico's bug-splattered shoes just that little bit longer. We'd do 'im.

Granted, but this seemed pretty blatant to me. Even the design of the antlions was frighteningly similar to the Bugs.
Of course, I might be biased because that was my least favourite level in HL2. I don't mind that it's derivative so much, as long as it isn't long and boring. Stupid... platform... jumping.

Anyway, it was a 3rd person bttle game. Huge planetscape areas, loads of troops on both sides, alien bug like enemy. I remember thinking at the time that has a good ST feel to it. Lots of legging about, gunfire whizzing past you as other skirmishes take place around you.
Anyone who can remind me of the title can have a free day off work (just tell your boss I said it was OK).
