PGR3 online tourney details

Could you be a Gotham Hero?

Project Gotham Racing developer Bizarre Creations has announced plans to get your motor running with an extensive range of online tournaments for Xbox 360 launch title PGR3.

According to the studio's official website, there will be "A big mix of tournaments, ranging from events where tens of thousands can qualify down to elite events where only the top 32 best qualifiers get through to the knockout stage."

You'll be able to watch the grand finals on Gotham TV, Bizarre's new Xbox Live broadcast channel - read all about it here. The overall winner will earn the title of ultimate Gotham Hero, and maybe even a proper prize.

And this is just the start, apparently - "a couple of REALLY important announcements" are still to come, according to Bizarre. In the meantime, you can read all about the PGR3 online tournament plans here.

Wow... the PGR series has gone from strength to strength. Sounds brilliant to me... IMHO Bizzare are at the forefront of (arcade) racing games... MS can count themselves lucky these guys are working on the XBox.

    Must buy game for me.

i only just bought PGR2, which either proves I'm getting waaaay behind in this gaming malarkey, or that i'm an idiot whose been missing out. 18 months old and the game (for me) is better than most racing games that have come out since (burnout 3 excepted).

Knowing me then I'll end up buying Forza sometime around Xmas 2006. Go me.

Dizzy.. Bizarre have ALWAYS (IMO) been a top-draw game dev company.

Even when they did stuff for Psygnosis... Back in the day...

Well, if I get an xbox 360 at launch PGR3 will be the first game I buy without question. PGR2 has yet to be beat for most fun online.

Like a ride in the new Batmobile? ^^

I hope people will win because they are the fastest around the track and not because they can do 360°'s for five minutes and then skid off to the finish line...

    Agreed.

PGR2 is a great game. No disputing that. But let's be honest, the kudos system is a bit shit...

Call me old fashioned, but I think that the best racing driver (i.e. number one in the scoreboards) should be the one that drives around a specified number of laps in the fastest time. The fact that PGR shies away from tuning and customisation makes this even more of a no-brainer...

For online races it is the winner that wins. Same goes for hot laps, timed runs etc... It's only cone challenges that you win with points... and seeing as the idea there is to get the most points, i dont see the problem?

I'm talking about the overall scoreboards and rankings. I love the way the Forza scoreboards are integrated into the career mode (and yes, I know they're flawed).

Being able to check your lap times against your friends list is exactly what's needed in PGR in my opinion. Honestly, have you ever come 5th in an online PGR2 game but thought to yourself "Never mind, I got 1000 more kudos then anyone else...i'm the greatest...". Having the overall and intergrated rankings judging Kudos instead of lap times is just wrong.

I never got into PGR2... the framerate was crap and the barriers got drawn onto the screen far to late (probaby why they had signs counting down the distance to the corner).

I just hope they concentrate on the making it smoother as much as all these extra feachures they're adding.

" the framerate was crap and the barriers got drawn onto the screen far to late"

:S solid 30fps aint crap, sure its no burnout 3 but they're slightly different in technical terms. Forza used 30fps too. As for the barriers i think you may need an eye test :\

"Never mind, I got 1000 more kudos then anyone else...i'm the greatest...".

Hot Laps allow you to record a time like that dont they and then see how you fare online.
