Sign up for LotR Online beta

They're taking names from today.

Codemasters Online Gaming has opened the beta sign-ups for Lord of The Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, the first and only MMO game based on Tolkien's legendary tale of fat-footed Frodo and his merry friends.

Anyone keen to jump in and be amongst the first to experience the Lord of the Rings universe in all its online glory can do so by heading over to the beta section of the freshly launched website, which will also be offering localised forums so you can muse over the latest trends in the wardrobe of wizards, or, perhaps more likely, chat about the forthcoming game, and establish your alliegences for the battle for Middle Earth.

There's also plenty of info about the game and a stack of LotR Online content that's been conveniently translated into English, German and French. Hurrah!

Codies' claim that the beta sign up and website launch is "just the beginning of a concerted effort to make sure people who are excited about the game will be able to get into the beta and experience the amazing world that Turbine has created," on which basis it would seem rude not at least pop over and have a look.

Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is scheduled for a European release in the second half of the year.
