Electronic Arts has announced that Need for Speed Most Wanted is currently in development for PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, GBA, PSP and PC.
The game combines "the thrill of illicit street racing and tuner customisation with the intensity of strategic police pursuits." You'll go head-to-head with other expert racers as well as up to six police vehicles at a time, and must build up your rap sheet and street cred to make it to the top of the "Black List" of top class drivers.
"Out-race your opponents, evade cops and exploit the open world - street racing doesn't get any better than this," said senior producer Larry LaPierre.
"Players instantly will feel the thrill of the ride as they hit the streets in an open world environment where drivers can tune their cars to compete against any class of vehicles, or use their wits to out-fox the law to satisfy their need for speed."
New gameplay and customisation options are promised, along with new tuners, muscle and sports cars. The game is being developed by EA Canada and will go on show at this year's E3.

How long until someone makes a post dissing this as being dire despite:
a) not having seen any real details about this game b) having never even played NFS:U Chances are the word 'chav' will be used too. And the poster will probably have been bullied as a child. |

Wasn't Most Wanted the one on Xbox 2 and PS3? It actually looked quite good, TBH. Returned the way of the old series. None of this 'Underground' rubbish.

I did play both NFS Underground and NFS Underground 2, so I consider myself entitled to speak, although, I have to admit, when I was a kid a was the smallest in my year and I got bullied a lot. A apolgize for it, green arsehole.
The thing is, it's getting really, really boring! I had enough dark cities, I want some more light, more varied landscapes and really expensive cars. I mean to say is I want my NFS back. That's all. |

Road & Track: Need for Speed on the 3DO was the first and best... even though it only had 3 tracks and no multiplayer...

Shadar, that's a totally valid viewpoint as you've actually played the game (see my point 'b' above). I just get fed up with 'teh hardc0r3' pouncing on this series without ever having played it. Lordy, I don't even like it a great deal myself, but it can be quite fun for a bit here and there.
I just get a little fed up because I can't help thinking that if it was developed by a Japanese developer and called "Special car go-fast dream fun race X", only available on import, and not published by EA then the same guys would be going on about how cool it was. It's just because "casual gamers" (shudder) enjoy playing it that somehow people lash into it. They're the same people who attack Fifa, without having actually played it for five years. Fifa these days is a true competitor to Pro-Evo, but because Pro-Evo is by Japanese dev-co, well, you fill in the blanks. It's not as good as Pro-Evo, but it ain't a bad little game. Emperor's New Clothes syndrome. And no, I don't work for EA. I think they're evil :)

I am effing bored of this Underground shit. This is not Need for Speed, this is a horrible parody of games like Midnight Club and movies like Fast and the Furious. I put down NFSU after 11 races and never even bothered about NFSU2. I think this sequel (yes, with a different name) will meet the same fate.
I want class, I want exciting visuals, I want Lamborghinis. Hot Pursuit 2 was a glorious example of what the series does best, although I like Porsche Unleashed the best of the series. Exotic cars, exotic tracks... what else could u want? Yes, EA, I am SICK of running ugly, bolted-falsies on VW Golfs, badly drawn with horrible framerate, around tracks where I cannot tell one corner from another. Here is my suggestion for the next title in the series: NEED FOR SPEED: FERRARRI UNLEASHED. Glorious, isn't it? |
