Frame City Killer US delay

Polishing its guns.

Frame City Killer, Namco's second Xbox 360 title, has been pushed back to the second half of 2006 in North America following its recent slide to spring in Japan.

The Unreal Engine 3.0-based game sees players tracking down a Very Nasty Man in a big city trying to perform all sorts of "perfect hits".

Namco in Japan recently confirmed that the game would miss its February target due to "quality assurance issues," but Namco in the States was a bit more update, speaking to 1up:

"Thanks for your interest in FCK," a spokesperson said (hopefully not phonetically). "The game is slated to come out in the second half of 2006 (likely summer). No reason for the delay - just polishing the game so our second Xbox 360 title looks great!"

"Thanks for your interest in FCK,"

It suddenly becomes very, very apparent why they called the game 'Frame City Killer'.

    /shakes head

Maybe they should 'just' start from ground up with a complete graphical redesign. It looks absolutely shite.

In Japan it's just called Frame City. The 'Killer' has been added, no doubt, to appeal to western audiences that won't buy a game that doesn't indicate guns and action in the title.

I cannot begin to understand how someone can produce such terminal judgements when the only contact they had with a game was a couple of clicks on half a dozen screenshots, possibly a video. I really can't.

I thought it looked bad but then that was definitely really early code. The fmv and setting looked super-80s and super-awesome. I'd play it just to see the cut scenes.

First impressions, PortJourno. Make a bad first impression and it's all uphill from that point on. And those first screenies were awful.

Should have had a couple of screens with the story, given us a laugh :)

I hope the final game looks more like the trailer than the last screenshots we saw, which were embarrassingly hilarious.

I agree, there's nothing wrong in developing an opinion of a game at preview stage - as long as IT IS in the context of having an opinion about a game in the preview stage. Unlike people who write Amazon reviews of games yet to be published (which is plan stupid)..... I also have to say that in preview state FCK looked stinky.

    Terminal judgement?

    1) It looks terrible - graphically.
    2) It's being delayed due to 'quality issues'.

Seems like Namco have cursed their own product, not us.

To this day and age, making a bad first impression is good. Because you can't get dissapointed if you don't expect too much. Instead of getting an excellent first impression by looking at a video or screenshots, then get really disappointed when the game turns out to be a good looking crap game.

worst use of the Unreal 3.0 engine ever!!!!!

Even the latest screenshots look terrible, how they've taken the U3 engine and the 360 and made something that looks so shite is mystery.

What about all the people who totally lose interest in a game based on a bad first impression and never bother finding out whether or not it improves from there?
