Forza 2 and others by end of June 07 - Moore
Xbox boss opens up again.
Xbox 360 titles Forza Motorsport 2, Crackdown, Shadowrun and Too Human are now down for release before the end of June 2007, Peter Moore has admitted.
Speaking to MTV, the Xbox boss also said he'd recently played a build of Halo 3 - expected by most to release in late 2007 - and that it was "everything people would expect to see in a next-generation version of Halo".
Sadly though he didn't have an update on what film director Peter Jackson's doing, with no word on whether any of his Xbox projects would launch in 2007.
Moore's comments come in the same week as Microsoft revealed its plans to launch digital TV and film downloads in the US on 22nd November - with the Xbox man describing it as "a shot across the bow" of competitors Sony and Nintendo.
And on the subject of films, he also had some encouraging words for those still hoping for the Halo film to get going. "While we have no deals to announce, everyone in Hollywood is looking at it," he said. In fact, "several studios" have popped round to see the work that's already been done.
"For the magnitude of what the script is - I've read the screenplay - and what we need to do to uphold the 'Halo' universe for its legion of fans in the way they want to see a movie being made, no, it won't be next year," he added.
Finally, he responded to criticisms recently of publishers' behaviour on Xbox Live Marketplace - where Electronic Arts in particular has come under fire for charging consumers for things they can unlock in-game, and holding some elements back to sell separately.
"The consumer has the ability to vote. And they vote with the A-button most of the time. Either they download it or not," he said. "I think publishers, and we're a publisher as well, will get the message."

Bollocks.
Edit: Bollocks. The first one's for the delay, the second one's for not being first.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised really but it is disappointing to have to wait that long and with it being so delayed, it will presumably mean that PGR 4 won't be coming out Christmas 2007. I heard that the plan was to release Forza Motorsport for Christmas one year and PGR Christmas the next.
Still it's better the game is delayed than rushed and buggy like more than a few other Xbox 360 games...

What big first party games are left to launch between now (Gears and Pinata) and June 07?

Allegedly, Mass Effect. But the news has been so quiet on that recently that I can't really believe it's going to launch in Q1 2007.
Bioshock's down for March, but I certainly wouldn't put any money down on that not being delayed too.

Still I wish more devs took this attitude. The yearly release cycle that most franchises have fallen into have become tiresome. I dont think any game should be released more than 2 or maybe 3 times in a generation, not 4 or 5 sequels like we get now.

Any platform without the support of these two major publishers would struggle, including Sony and Nintendo.

Nobody's going to release four major firstparty titles all in the same week at the height of summer.
Edit: oh, Northy beat me to it. You're a bit premature, though, Crackdown isn't finished until Microsoft games Studios announce it is.

Oh, and a delay of a year for games like Forza is nothing compared to the wait endured by hardcore Nintendo fans for triple 'a' titles...

I for one am getting really fed up hearing hype about games for years before release...at which point many promised features don't appear.
GT4 was a classic of that...it must have had 2 full years hype and a pay-for-demo (prologue) before it was released.
Agree with console hype a year before release...you've gotta save up for it, so some warning is good. But a £40 game getting hyped for years before release....just wrong.

"So he likes the idea of consumers having to pay through thier teeth for content that really should of been included in the game then. But why not? The games are only £40!"
I'm not sure if you can read, but he said its up to you.... you vote with the A button, buy it or not. He also says if noone paid for the extra content then they would have to stop charging for it (or basically along those lines).
