Project Rub creator speaks out

On where babies come from.

Takumi Yoshinaga, creator of hit DS title Project Rub, has revealed more of what we can expect from the game's sequel - including news that it will feature a wireless mode for up to four players.

Speaking to mostly ace gaming blog Kotaku, Yoshinaga explained that just as Project Rub began with the main character falling in love, Where Do Babies Come From? is all about what happens "Where love gets difficult."

Hence the game's wintry theme - "Love starts in summer. In winter, it always gets difficult," Yoshinaga said.

So what else is new? Well, "The biggest difference is that now everyone can play together," apparently.

"Now, with added wireless for up to four players, the way of playing is totally different... For the first [game], it was all about having the characters fall in love. This one has the added element of bringing people closer as they play together. Everyone can have fun. Everyone can play."

And there's bad news for those who heard the game's title and hoped for some dirty bits: "It's not hardcore, that's for sure," Yoshinaga said.

"If women play, that's okay. No problem. It's not an adult game. Our approach is different from that."

Yoshinaga said there could be a sequel to the sequel on the way - but don't expect more of the same exactly.

"I don't want to do something in the same genre," he said. "But I'd like to put the design and the style in an RPG action game."

And how might this work, exactly? "Let’s say, for an adventure game, you’d have to go talk to like, a bunch of women in order to figure out what to do next. It would be like an adventure game. That’s how I would do it."
