Ubisoft's Leipzig line-up News

PC PlayStation 2 Xbox 360
News by Tom Bramwell

10 August, 2006

Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic will headline Ubisoft's line-up at the Leipzig Games Convention later this month.

There's no sign of the seven (or eight) Wii games the company recently promised, and Sam Fisher is the sole Tom Clancy representative in the line-up - but there still ought to be something to satisfy most tastes.

The full line-up and details:

  • Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (due out in autumn; 18-PC multiplayer set-up promised)
  • Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent (due out in autumn; playable in single- and multiplayer on Xbox 360)
  • Call of Juarez (due out in September; playable on PC)
  • The Settlers II - The Next Generation (September; playable on PC)
  • Horsez (end of 2006, PC; some sort of ghetto riding adventure presumably)
  • Open Season (November; playable on PS2)

If you're not going of course, you can always comfort yourself by reading up on them in great detail elsewhere on the site. For example, we've tons of info, previews and an interview on Double Agent, along with previews and videos of Dark Messiah.

Expect more from the show.

Dark Messiah of Might & Magic is all you need, nothing else really matters.

Im sure games like Assassin's Creed and Red Steel and Rainbow Six Vegas will be shownbehind closed doors. this is the way Ubisoft has always done it, they keep their most hyped games behind closed doors.not that Double Agent or Dark Messiah arent ....

Ehm you realise that:

a) This isn't E3. Leipzig is a consumer show as much as an industry event. There are no closed doors (except in occupied Leipzig bathrooms).
b) Games that no one knows about can't be hyped beforehand.
c) This line-up is utter meh!

^ Well, I can see how Double Agent isn't 'meh'. Settlers could be interesting as well.

I still can't get over Call of Juarez's title. It's like they're begging you to pirate it.

Also, if Liepzig wants to be positioned as the successor to E3, then they're going to need to figure out a snappier name for the convention.

Same here. Other than their two big titles (Splinter Cell & Dark Messiah) the rest could easily fall into obscurity.

Of course there are closed doors. Publishers can choose to show games to journalists in meeting rooms that otherwise wouldn't be visible on the show floor.

I understand but I do remember Prince of Persia The Two Thrones being shown behind closed doors on last year's E3.
