Atari signs Bullet Witch News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

10 August, 2006

Atari has announced that it will bring Cavia's Xbox 360 action title Bullet Witch to Europe and North America, although it hasn't said when.

Released in Japan in late July, Bullet Witch is a third-person title set in a near future that sees humanity fighting extinction at the hands of nasty demons.

Fortunately we've got Alicia, the titular Bullet Witch, whose mixture of magical abilities and gun skills are the key to our survival.

Atari reckons the game's advanced physics engine and environmental damage systems ought to have us swoon, and is promising downloadable content post-release, too - in the form of new character costumes and levels.

For more on the game, check out an early trailer on Eurogamer TV.

shame any footage i've seen of this game looks HORRIBLE.
it's got a long way to go and even the premise sounds rubbish

Japanese reviews - "it's a bit rubbish". Should fit right into Atari's portfolio.

Darkedge +1. Anyone who is slightly interested, see the some footage first. So far this looks as generic and mediocre as it gets (and i am beeing polite).

It's a shame this doesn't look that hot, because I reckon "Bullet Witch" is one of my favourite game names ever.

BW's main faillings seem to be (from the reviews/coverage I've seen and read).....

Dreadfull aiming controls. Crosshair moves too quickly and has no Halo-style aim assist.
It takes too many button-presses to activate any of the spells, rendering them almost useless.
Getting hit by a telekenetically-flung object results in Instant death and you having to restart from the very-far-apart checkpoints.
Its generally a bit bland and the graphics are rough.

Apart from the spells and the blandness, most of the games quirks/faults sound like they could be fixed if Atari decides to really make an effort during localisation.
If they dont, then it'll be another 360 game I pass over untill it hits bargin-bin prices.

I have seen footage of this game and *gasp* I actually do like the look of this game. And those Japanese review scores are actually pretty solid, it's odd how you're all ignoring the amount of 8s it got.

I mean, I think Halo looks as baldn and cliche as it gets, but does anyone here agree? Bullet Witch just appeals to me more in terms of it's style.
