Wii to get Resi Evil exclusive News

Wii News by Ellie Gibson

10 May, 2006

Capcom has officially confirmed development of a new Resident Evil game, which will be exclusive to Nintendo Wii and could well be hitting stores ahead of the Resident Evil 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Following up on the phenomenal success of Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube, Capcom is understandably showing a little more love for Nintendo, and plans to release a new instalment that takes full advantage of the innovative remote controller.

According to Capcom, the new game will "combine the series' intense gaming experience and atmosphere with the revolutionary control system of the Wii," although exactly how they plan to do that is a mystery at the moment.

No release date or details on where this latest instalment sits in the series have been disclosed so far, but given the recent news that the developers are still sussing out new concepts and graphics engines for Resi 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360, it's possible you won't have to wait quite as long for evil to take up residence in your Wii.

I would say this is a good thing, but Resi spin-offs have never really been much cop - there's the Survivor games, Outbreak 1 & 2 and just recently, Resi 1 on the DS (forget the proper name).

I just hope Capcom realise that Resi has a renewed lease of life, and if they continue to milk it again (like pre-4) it will grow stale again quickly.

Cool.

One question though. With the versatility of the Wii controller, what contrivance will they use to ensure that I can't move and shoot at the same time again?

Sounds like a fresh new challenge for the boys at Capcom...

The Wii will just have to keep track of your movements

teriffic! seems like a lot of GREAT GAMES are coming out for me wii. now let's just hope there's gonna be A LOT of new shit too. ever since N64 Nintendo had so little third party support. but when wii proves to be a succes, and with it's low dev cost, i think this time round it'll be all good.

I'm sure there will be plenty of shit on the wii my son and some of it even new.

Being the Resi nut that I am I had to waste over a £100 on a Gamecube not sure i'll be splashing out on a wii though.

Oh the fun you can have with puns on the name of Ninty's new console....... hmmmmmm.

Where at all does it say that this is a spin-off?

this is most likely a continuation in the story for those who bought RE4. RE5 is clearly a different story from RE4 and also stars a different character if I'm recalling correctly.

Code Veronica was a spin off/sidestory and was one of the best of the series!

Dead Aim was Gun Survivor 3 and not that bad at all...

But don't bring up the second Survivor... *shudders* that was wrong in so many ways that it defies all known laws of logic and reason...

CV wasn't a "spin off/sidestory"
