Guild Wars: Factions dated

Collector set detailed.

NCsoft and ArenaNet have announced Guild Wars: Factions will be out in Europe on April 28th, and talked a bit about the contents of the inevitable 'Collector's Edition' fans will be able to buy.

Presumably having enjoyed success with some of its other big-boxed collector sets, NCsoft is ramming this one with an art book, Jeremy Soule GWF soundtracks, a Ritualit cloth picture, a desk calendar and mouse mat, and in-game signature emotes for the Ritualist and Assassin professions.

Sometimes called an expansion, Factions is actually a standalone game that does not require Guild Wars to play, but obviously those of you already tackling Guild Wars on a nightly basis will benefit the most from its purchase - with new areas and professions to explore and an expanded range of competitive multiplayer options.

It's also worth noting, for those of you coming to Guild Wars for the first time, that neither the original game or Factions charge the typical massively multiplayer monthly subscription fee.

For more on the game, check out our interview with ArenaNet co-founder Jeff Strain, who walked us through the game recently.

    I bought Guild Wars Special Ed for £20 in GAME on Saturday and have really enjoyed it so far. That means I might just have to pick up Factions as well :-)

    Got the special ed of GW through Play and started in it about a couple of days ago.

    It's very purdy, and I don't feel completely lost.

    I'll probably just play it casually and get into it properly before going for the expansion though.

    Yeah, that's what I like about GW... you can just pop in for 15 minutes and still get something done and have the feeling you achieved something. Gonna get that Collector's Edition just for the mouse pad to show off at work. Stupid, I know. -_-;

    anyone know if any where has got the special ed on pre order?

    Edit: Scratch that. Gameplay have.

    Mentat - if you pre-order from the right places (game.net for example) they'll send you a boxed pre-order pack, which has a CD and some other tat.

    all places that are offering pre-order should send you pre-order boxes on the 31st March. "Tat"? No way man, lots of reasons to get the pre-order box; beta weekend access, two bonus in-game items and early access to full game for starters!
