Argos and co. stock Gizmondo

See? No crap jokes.

Gizmondo Europe has signed a deal to increase the number of stores stocking its multi-media handheld in UK high streets, with Argos, Comet and HMV now supplying the machine.

Previously selling in a selected number of UK retailers including Harrods, Carphone Warehouse, John Lewis, and its flagship store in Regent Street, London, the expansion of Gizmondo's distribution network is effectively immediately, with the handheld selling for around UKP 130.

"We are extremely pleased to have Argos, HMV and Comet onboard," said Jamie Robertson, commercial director, Gizmondo. "Manufacture is being scaled up accordingly, and we will continue to work closely with all our retail partners as our portfolio of content continues to grow."

The deal follows a troubled week for the Microsoft Windows CE powered machine and its parent company. Gizmondo Europe recently changed its originally planned North America debut from August 11th to October, vehemently denying rumours of a subdued US launch. It also rejected claims that staff at the Gizmondo London store was downsized.
