Halo 2 Map Pack out now

All nine maps up for grabs.

Today sees the launch of the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack, which includes no less than nine brand new maps along with special updates to stop cheaters in their tracks.

There's also a weapons update, designed to balance everything out a bit, and all prior Xbox Live updates are included on the disc to ensure that offline players can enjoy a tip-top multiplayer experience too.

But that's not all - you also get special bonus content including an animated feature showing a different side of Old Mombasa, and a documentary that takes you behind the scenes at Bungie to meet the designers.

Four of the maps have already been released on Xbox Live, and you can now download the remaining ones for £7.99 - or wait a bit and download them for nowt, since Bungie has promised they'll all be available free of charge later in the year. The boxed map pack, complete with bonus content, costs £14.99.

For a full overview of each new map, visit the Bungie website. Expect a review of the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack in the near future.

Hmmm.. It is going to be a busy weekend on Live. I better stock up on some munchies.

I saw a guy last night score 25 kills on Warlock in under a minute. Everyone else had 1 or 2 kills.

I get the feeling there are still some exploits... 25 KILLS IN 50 - 60 Secs Man !

Somethings not right I tell ya'

They're £5.99 on XBLive, not £7.99, by the way. And free on August 30th.

I dont think ive played all the halo2 maps as it is ...
  • GoingNowhere #5 7 years ago

Actually the maps came out for download on live on Tuesday.
Onyxbox must players already know about modding. I have stopped playing matchmade games until the problem is fixed as the situation is getting out of hand.

I noticed this in GAME yesterday, I guess they must of broken the street date if its out today.

Interesting I noticed that they had a big sign saying that it was exempt from thier 10 day return policy AND it whould'nt be accepted for thier Preowned scheme.

onyxbox - It's possible for cheaters to mod the game code and run it on an unmodded Xbox now. Warlock is one of the worst effected maps I've found. The downloaded levels are the ones that are more easily hacked due to the obvious reason that they reside on the hard-drive rather than disc.

Just report the whole winning team as cheaters and let Bungie sort out who was really at fault.

    So here's what you do:

Buy the disc and then "lend" it to all your friends for a quid. As long as you have more than 15 friends you won't have to pay for it and you keep the disc! Genious! :)

As for the cheating, I hope that Xbox Live just start getting hardcore with all those £%^&£ who like cheating in ranked games. I understand the fun and appeal of hacking a game and getting it to do cool stuff and I personally don't mind that. But when you start ruining the game for everyone else you deseve to be dragged out into the street and shot... repeatedly. Cheat in your own private games and not in the matchmade games. And MS/Bungie, just take their Live accounts away. They'll buy more and hopefully they'll be more careful next time.

Sorry, I'm ranting... I'll shut up now...

I'm glad someone's told me about that. I thought it seemed a bit odd.

I usually play Halo 2 on a Tuesday night with 3 other friends. In a private session it's a superb game but as soon as you face those American's it's just goes silly and it's put me and my friends off public games.

If there are any 30 something Halo 2 players looking to have a few games of Halo 2 on a Tuesday (20:30 onwards) feel free to join us (gametag:onyxbox), we're not that good but we not 'tards'.

  • GoingNowhere #13 7 years ago

Its not fair to report the whole team for cheating. I modder may go into matchmaking alone. Why should the other three players be reported. You should report the obvious modder. I once played in a game when someone went 50-0
  • ShoKay #14 7 years ago

Nah it says that the whole pack goes free on the 30th, same way that both the previous premium maps went free last week sometime.
  • Slippy #15 7 years ago

Goingnowhere - It says on the Bungie website to report the team, not just the obvious individual.

    Think of it this way...

Modders can create a party with a friend and boost that friend up the ranking by them being on the modder's (ie winning) team each time. Reporting the whole team allows Bungie/M$ to also catch out those that are riding on the coat-tails of the modder!

Sounds good - there's a bunch of us that play and sound similar to you guys. Perhaps we could get a few games going on the new maps?
  • GoingNowhere #17 7 years ago

Slippy- Have you ever been modded? If you had you would know that a lot of the time the people on the modders team are just as annoyed as the opponents. These people should not be at risk of having their accounts suspended unfairly.
  • raikov #18 7 years ago

Only after "30 something" players? Anyone else smell Halo Dating Team Slayer?

As for the boxed map pack, you can install the maps to your harddrive and then dont need the disc, so obivously most shops won't return it. But the thing is, people have done this downloading a no-cd for PC games for years and they haven't had this problem
  • Dizzy #19 7 years ago

If you have a modder in your team.. just commit suicide as much as possible. Keeps the score down and pisses off the modders.

BTW onyxbox.... I will add you tonite :) I am also sick of 12 year olds :)
  • Slippy #20 7 years ago

Goingnowhere - I realise that as I've been stuck with the bastards a few times now. Bungie don't ban people just because someone leaves feedback about them, they investigate why it was left. If they consistently see the same two gamertags being reported at the same time by individuals, they can investigate that. Just because someone may be unlucky enough to be on the same team as a cheater, it's highly unlikely they'll consistently play in the same game as the modder, where as the modders's friend that's being boosted will.

Phew, did that make more sense? I may not have been too cleasr last time?

Failing that, (and if you can be assed) send the following to h2cheats@microsoft.com

    * Your Gamertag
    * The Gamertag(s) of the alleged cheaters
    * A summary of what you witnessed or observed
    * A link to the game(s) on Bungie.net

    >"Buy the disc and then "lend" it to all your friends for a quid. As long as you have more than 15 friends you won't have to pay for it and you keep the disc! Genious! :)"

Or lend it from a friend, lend it to 15 other friends, and pocket the 100% £15 profit.
