Jade Empire coming to PC

Complete with fancy new stuff.

BioWare has confirmed that a PC version of hit Xbox fighter Jade Empire is on the way.

It'll feature all manner of exciting new visual effects, high resolution support, new combat styles and a new world map system. You can also expect to be facing off with a whole new range of enemies, all of whom are likely to be a bit clever thanks to enhanced AI.

BioWare has yet to announce when the game will arrive, but in the meantime you might like to take a look at the official website.

Well that'll cheer 'em up after Alan Wake.

JE was a very good game imo. Dunno if you can class it as an RPG though. Really looking forward to JE2.

everything about Jade Empire except the combat was 10/10 or close to it in my book

Hated the Language in that game, they should have went with MAndarin Chinese instead of all that custom language crap./

Crap combat system, crap characters, crap story. The design and visuals were quite nice, but after the excellent KotOR, Jade Empire was just a massive step down from Bioware. Hopefully they'll do a better job with Mass Effect.

Define 'real' RPG-player.. someone who whines a lot?

    Looking forward to JE.

"but after the excellent KotOR, Jade Empire was just a massive step down from Bioware."

Damn, and I already thought that KotOR was a step down from them. :(

I thought it was pretty good. The average of 82 reviews and 71 votes seems to agree :)

The combat system was so-so, but for the rest, it was just fine. The characters where very sterotypical (positive imo) and the interaction with them was very nice & the storyline was solid. The music was brilliant and the art was refreshing.

"hit xbox fighter..." most of these words are out of place

IMO jade empire is not as good as KOTOR but is a nice game nonetheless

"they should have went with MAndarin Chinese "

You should have went with English.
  • Pirotic #13 6 years ago

Didn't like Jade Empire at all, not even a patch on KotoR.
  • Scimarad #14 6 years ago

Is it actually going to have an ending on the PC?
  • Inigo #15 6 years ago

The story and characters are real good in this but found the fighting system a bit average. I liked the fact that the good/evil (or what ever it is) path really changes how the game progresses.

Plus the little girl possessed by the demon is cool.

How could you resist a character called "hen-pecked ho" :)

KOTOR2 wasn't as good as KOTOR but still a good game. Hopefully this will live up to the standard of KOTOR.

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

I'd call myself a 'real' RPG-player (Baldur's Gate, Morrowind, Oblivion...back to the days of Ultima Underworld) and I absolutely loved Jade Empire on the xbox. I don't have one - it was only a loan - but now I'll get to play it again
    :-D

Woops, love weed a little bit!

Been waiting to play this for a while, secretly hoping they'd PCify it. Give us more stats, I'm going to grow a real beard!

Seems that only japanese format exclusives stay exclusive.
Didn't Bioware swear high and low there was never going to be a port of this?
  • lemonfist #20 6 years ago

Thank God, now even more people can get to play this pile of overrated shite and realise how Bioware have totally lost it.

Jade Empire is a step down, IMO, and indicative of the direction Bioware is heading as a developer. Successive Bioware RPGs seem to increasingly concentrate on voice acting, whizz bang graphics (not a bad thing at all) and real time-ish combat systems at the expense of the things that are most important (to me, not everyone) in an RPG - namely size, scope and non-linearity, as well as more player freedom.

I thought Jade Empire was nice, but was far too linear and not nearly epic enough in scope. I know they were trying to do something a bit different, but Bioware seem to steadily be moving away from the style of RPGs I most enjoy, namely BGI and II, planescape, Fallout etc.

Well now, it seems like there is less and less reason for me to keep my original Xbox

I thought I was the only one who thought JE was hugely overrated. They dumbed down everything that made KotoR great so badly it left if drooling in the corner with a rugby helmet on to stop it hurting itself.

No character customisation, slender story line and dreadful 'Jump over head, counter' combat all made for a pretty poor game. I spent the first hour going 'oooh, pretty...' and the subsequent 4 hours saying 'ok....whens it going to kick in.......'.

    Three words:

    JADE GOLEM FORM.
