Mother 3 in the West? News

GameBoy Advance News by Tom Bramwell

7 November, 2006

Nintendo's been quiet so far about the possibility of the third game in the Mother RPG series appearing in the West on GBA, but comments from one of Nintendo of America's localisation team suggest it's probably not worth holding our breath.

Speaking to Planet GameCube, localisation manager Nate Bihldorff says, "I'm not working on Mother 3. I don't have all the writers under me, so there may be other people in discussions going on with it, but I wouldn't look forward to it in the immediate future, no. Sorry, I know! There's a big Mother fanbase, there is."

All that leaves us with is dragging the Super Nintendo out of the cupboard and playing the second Mother game, Earthbound. And we don't like opening that cupboard, Nintendo. We like new games. Sort it out!

I don't like opening the cupboard either. You never quite know what's waiting for you in there.

Fucks sake, you morons, sort it out. If you released the script to fansubbers it'd be done in a week.

Me on the comments section! :o

Anyway, Nintendo would easily be the best developers in the world (If they're not already) if they just translated Mother 3. If not, I'm going to learn Japanese and download the game, just so they don't get any money from being stubborn :D

Allright, so if Nintendo USA don't want to bother releasing it, is there any reason why it cant be offered out for any 3rd party publishers to pick up.
Y'know, like Altus perhaps?

I mean, c'mon, If they had the chance, I couldn't imagine them NOT picking it up.

I've heard that a compilation of all three Mother games is being released on the DS in Japan, and this version is likely to get a Western release at some point. But that might all be bullshit.

Oh, and I don't think any company other than Nintendo has ever published Nintendo first- or second-party games, or is ever likely to do so in the future. Atlus did pick up Cubivore and Polarium Advance, both of which were published by Nintendo in Japan, but they were also both developed by independent third parties.

I really hope this is true...would be nice to see the other Mother games translated and put on the GBA (not sure if homebound was on GBA or not? :S)
