See next-gen Lara in action

With new TR 360 trailer.

A new trailer for Lara Croft's first Xbox 360 adventure, Tomb Raider Legend, is now available for download.

It's not long, mind, but at least we finally get to see next-gen Lara on the move. Expect lots of trap dodging, a bit of breast wobbling and a small dollop of Croftian sauciness.

Eidos confirmed that TR Legend would be coming to Xbox 360 at the X05 event earlier this week, assuring Lara fans that it's going to be a stunner.

We're promised lots of exploration, physics-based puzzles, fluid animations, highly detailed backgrounds and lots of exciting weapons to play with in a game that's most definitely "Grounded in the series' tomb raiding roots," according to Eidos. Hurrah!

Toby Gard, aka Lara's dad, is working with Crystal Dynamics on the game, which is also in development for PC, PS2 and Xbox.

"My original vision for Lara can nearly be realised with the muscle of the Xbox 360," he commented.

"The stunning graphics and scope of how Lara can move and interact with her surroundings will be astounding."

Tomb Raider Legend is out next spring on Xbox and Xbox 360, with the PC and PS2 releases to follow in the summer. Our local GAME says if we phone up to try and pre-order it one more time this week they're calling the police.

lol. Where do they get these soundbites from? The game's for current gen machines, ffs. The 360 version is exactly the same, just 'prettied up'. Another one receiving $$$ from Microsoft to spout crap to the press. :-)

And as if to prove my point, suddenly a 'temporary exclusive' deal appears! Shock, horror! :-D

can you stop using eurofiles for these things.. bitorrent is blocked from work..
  • Dizzy #4 6 years ago

Is it really just a prettied up version? Could be the same name but different game... like we have seen before last couple of months.

    T3h B00b135!

    ( .Y .)
  • tenma #6 6 years ago

Why do they keep making these?!

It's about as dead as the Army Men franchise.

All the videos look shockingly similar. :-)
  • Freek #8 6 years ago

That is kind of the point of Legend, to get the franchise out of Army Men syndrome, hence the new developer.

    Only nearly?

    Only nearly?

He's obviously tempting Sony to throw even more money at him. Cheap tart. :-)

    hmm
    i dont think so
they could still make a good game
    unlikely
    but not impossible

Damn. Thought this was Brian Lara.

"My original vision for Lara can nearly be realised with the muscle of the Xbox 360,"

Just be thankful his original vision wasn't some obese munter with a face that looked like she'd been chasing parked cars! Couldn't have imagined Lara doing backflips, somersaults and hand stands if she weighed in at over 25 stone!!
  • Fatfish #14 6 years ago

Me too. If it truly is a return to form - the original - then I will most definately be picking it up. Since TR2 onwards, I lost interest in the series - but if this proves to be as enjoyable as the first, then I'll be happily whiling away several hours swan diving off bottomless waterfalls!

I hate all this preferered platform bollocks. That TR teaser is cringeworthy, 'see more of me of Xbox 360'. Urghh. Yes Bill, I'm really going to fork out for the 'shiny edition' of this current gen game.

    Note sarcasm.

It never ceases to amaze me how such bitter and twisted individuals who have never achieved anything in their meagre little lives have the temerity to lambast creative geniuses like the crystal dynamics guys. Tomb Raider legend whether it be on xbox, PS2, PC or xbox 360 is going to be an immense game and will be number one in the charts on both sides of the atlantic. As for the sneak trailer it looks very tasty. Unfortunately for some of you facially challenged acne ridden geeks playing lara in this masterpiece is going to be the nearest you'll ever get to anything remotely top totty. Over and out.

What the hell!?! Amazon says 18th Novermber. Since when have they pushed the release back?

I should have known better. It is a tomb raider game, after all. I remember the bus adds for Angel of Darkness advertising the game as out a week before it actually arrived. Luckily, that delay allow me to read the reviews first and avoid it!
  • rinoflow #20 6 years ago

Eidos have been taken over by SCI whose management are savvy enough not to release a game unfinished. Something the previous Eidos management were ocassionally guilty of. It's delayed. So what...most games worth their salt are. It's called getting the product on the shelves looking and playing it's best.

By the way Watoo whatever your name is I'm a fan of the genre ipso facto my interest in the game. If you don't like it don't buy it.

Can't say I'm a fan of the TR games, after the novelty of watching laras arse jiggle as she runs wares off I come to the realization that the games don't play very well... Oh well hope this one's better :o)
  • Bru-Man #22 6 years ago

Yeah but have you seen how tight her new shorts are? Bet it's an effort to fart in them...

Looking forward to the new TR game, but that trailer was pretty crummy. Icky character animation, very wooden. Like a manequin out of that Herbie Hancock video or something.

Personally I'm tired of these "teaser trailers" that are at best a pre-rendered sequence vaguely suggestive of what you can do in the game, and at worst a complete work of goddamn fiction. Show some footage of play, let that speak for itself.
  • mrpsb #25 6 years ago

So the next generation according to this will consist of the same unrealistic models in the same unrealistic environments but rendered at a higher resolution?

    Ace!
  • speedstars13 #26 6 years ago

You lads just want to see her "next-gen" boobies.
  • Carpathian #27 6 years ago

    Headline:
    "See next-gen Lara in action"

    Meaning:
"Download a purely none-gameplay advert specially rendered for promo"

Yeah, I'm in the teaser trailer hate brigade too. I realise people have to advertise their wares these days but is a rendered 720p advert (not a trailer as such) really worth a bean. More to the point is it really worth a headline like that ?

"see next-gen Lara in action" ?

    [thinks]

    Only just, Eurogamer, only just..........
  • Freek #28 6 years ago

As long as it's using the game engine, and it looks like it is, there's no problem. Looks like a section of a level aswell.

True test to the 360's capabilities... If Lara enters a cold room will we see her nips?
  • Fatfish #32 6 years ago

    LOL @ TurdBreaker!

Cosely followed by the second test - VPL!........or no VPL if going commando!!

And yeah Fluffy, I seem to remember her arse being comprised of two box corners at a bit of a jaunty angle!
  • Fatfish #33 6 years ago

She won't turn around and say it - but you may find that the new look Lara isn't to your taste with her giant 360 logo emblazoned across her backpack throughout the entire game.........on all formats!!

  • marilena #34 6 years ago

The trailer looks next gen to me. Maybe I'm out of touch with current gen graphics, I don't know.

Anyway, the 'original vision' Lara looks rather crap. In the magazine scans I saw some time ago she looked much better, with a more natural look and even a bit of personality. Now she looks again like a cheap tart with terrible hair style and stupidly large breasts.

And if you think that the game will have slow-motion acrobatic action, you are on a level of optimism that I can't even begin to understand :).
  • Glitch #35 6 years ago

You guys rock, lmao @ the GAME comment :D
  • ozzit #36 6 years ago

"My original vision for Lara can nearly be realised with the muscle of the Xbox 360,"

Correct/flame me if i'm wrong, but wasnt the "original vision" for Lara to be a guy!? (Larry if i remember rightly...) XP
  • marilena #37 6 years ago

Tomb Raider was originally meant to be Rick Dangerous 3D, so you might have a point there.
  • Blerk #38 6 years ago

Couldn't he have realised his original vision at any point in the last couple of years on the PC? :-)
  • Fatfish #39 6 years ago

Rick Dangerous - what a great little game that was!

/eyes glaze over as he recalls the bitmap era/

Don't think Eidos would have sold many copies if they had put Rick in 3D and slapped a pair of shorts and a tight top on him........or a pony tail for that matter.
