UNO gets PGR3 deck News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

6 September, 2006

Those of you looking forward to another Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday today will have to go back to playing Time Pilot and Texas Hold 'Em for another week, because Microsoft's confirmed that this week's effort, Scramble, has been delayed.

"During the final testing and certification of the title, we discovered some minor issues that should be addressed, so we're going to take an extra week and fix these items to ensure a high quality game experience for you when the title launches next Wednesday, September 13," the PR chaps on the Gamerscoreblog write.

Fortunately they have a little something to keep you going in the shape of a new deck theme for UNO based on Project Gotham Racing 3. It costs 100 Microsoft points and is about 4MB in size.

As well as giving the whole thing a lick of paint, the pack introduces a new card - Gotham TV - which gives you a quick look at an opponent's hand and then functions as a Wild Card.

Well, we could talk about new artwork in UNO, or we could talk about the PS3 being delayed until after Xmas. Hmm... :)

Scramble's the only game I've looked forward to on XBLA, and now it's delayed. Why am I not surprised.

(have fond memories of playing it on C64 back in the days, tape version)

I thought it said Scrabble too :(

Still, I'm rubbish at Scrabble, so at least maybe I'll be able to beat my friends at whatever Scramble is.

Bah! I was looking forward to the Scramble launch just to see what spurious number EG pluck out of their arses for the review score. I'm thinking it'll be negative, they've got nowhere else to go.

Don't get me wrong - I love EGs normal reviews - it's just the retro ones that are utterly farcical. Now they've started them I'm hoping they keep them up though, because they're going to have to go through the entire Snes and Nes back catalogue (and whatever else the Wii will have available) throwing seemingly random numbers at whatever comes their way.

All EG really need to do is specify the criteria for retro reviews - whether they're solely rating how the game holds up, the new additions, the overall package including price etc.

Anyway. Why is it that even though I know for a fact that Scramble's shit and moves like a tortoise in a high-gravity atmosphere, I still wouldn't mind playing it again?

Not really... timepilot was always a rubbish game and deserved its score.

Scramble is a rubbish game too and will get panned. Gradius is the natural successor to scramble and is a hundred times better.

They ought to get two people to do retro reviews: one who enjoyed the original game and one who doesn't even remember it.

@Lagto_Soa

LOL, I read that as "high-gravy" atmosphere.

You right, the ship really didn't handle well did it.

As I said, never saw it as a shoot'em up, more like an avoid'em up, and it was pretty addictive on the C64.

"Pac-man is a rubbish game too, "

I think what other posters were saying was that Pac-man sold very well when it was converted to consoles and computers, but Time Pilot didn't and it got quite poor reviews too. Pac Man has retro value, but Time Pilot doesn't.

Maybe if these frankly awful old 10p gobblers were batched together and released for 400GP I would be interested. But Scramble on it's own? Bugger off. The BBC version Rocket Raid was better (Well maybe not but you didn't have to stand in dank room that smelled of wee to play it.... )

Uno! Why are we even discussing this, and when did gamers become so desperate as to sink to playing this? Get some real games XBL.

Well, I think we now all know the real reason its been delayed.

They, like Nintendo, are far to busy wetting themselves with laughter after Sonys announcement.
