Saints Row content soon

But not on the 15th - THQ

THQ has denied that it will use September 15th to release a host of new clothes and tattoos for Saints Row players to deck their characters out in, but says we can definitely expect some downloadable content soon.

Speaking to Eurogamer, a spokesperson for the publisher said, "we have extensive plans for downloadable content for Saints Row and will be announcing more information closer to the time the content will be made available."

The 15th claim came by way of the Rated-M blog, which lists a bunch of new clothing and tattoo types and backs this up with some photos, claiming that the lot will be made available through kiosks and over Marketplace in exchange for some points. THQ disputes the date claim, but didn't comment on the specifics of the content mooted.

If it happens, then you can expect the likes of a spiked leather jacket, a skull ring, crazy bunny slippers, an eye patch and samurai helmet, as well as biohazard and ankh tattoos among others. For more on Saints Row as it stands, check out our review.

Finally, we'll get those motorcycles and boats.

EDIT: NO BOATS! NO MOTORCYCLES! READ ARTICLE BEFORE POSTING FTW!

They should work on eliminating those bad V-sync/tearing problems. Then I would consider buying the game!

I hope they're also working on a patch to move accelerate and brake to the left and right triggers, and to make the camera auto-centre behind your car a LOT quicker than it is at present. It drives me bananas.

Is this free or are we supposed to pay for this?

I think a patch to fix the numerous bugs in the game is more urgently required than downloadable content personally. Great game but very glitchy with it.

I must be blind. Apart from one set of bollards disappearing on the motorway while I wasn't moving I've experienced NO problems with the visuals or gameplay of this game.

I should perhaps elaborate as to what bugs I mean... disappearing scenery like bridges and cars, audio cutting off and on, occasional freezes, falling through floors and glitchy Tag activities that sometimes don't show the buttons/direction icons needed to complete them. Shame that they can't fix that "vile" v-sync tearing and treacly framerate though...

Most of those issues should have been addressed before the game shipped but this is a THQ published game and, like MotoGP 06 before it, they seem content to publish unfinished/buggy games.

    @Kiigan
You can have the tigger buttons as accelerate and brake/reverse. You just need to change the joypad layout.

And, no, there is nothing wrong with my game disc nor the other 30 odd Xbox 360 games I own. Those are all glitches I've encountered during the 40 odd hours I've played the game, the Tagging glitch being the most recent.

Thanks for the info on changing the buttons for driving. That should help a lot.
The camera still drives me nuts though. You really notice it on activities such as the demolition derby... it badly needs patching to either allow the user to centre the camera or else just speed up the rate at which the camera auto-centres.

I still like the game despite the glitches, which have been everything from the sound cutting out (on one of the racing activitys), extreme slowdown (racing again) to driving down the freeway where all of a sudden the bridge/road, cars (including my own) vanish and then come back again. This is on a replacement 360 which came last week (MFR Date: 2006-06-05).

It's a pity because I think it took them a while to get it as good as it is now and foregoing options such as sex being able to sit down on the park benches, buying from hot dog vendors etc.

I would rather they worked on another sandbox game than waste time on additional content.

*edit* hehe, I see strike tags don't work. Sex is meant to be striked though. Oh well...

Kiigan, have you actually played the game, or are you just making this up? Have you tried tapping either look right, left or back to center the camera?

Oh, and ManicMinerUK: how do you know wether they decided to leave out motorbikes with the purpose of charging people for it? I know it's just wishful thinking, but still. And they better have some bigger plans for the sequel than just adding motorbikes and/or boats. I mean, GTA4 is coming out, and that's bound to do something different.

This game just came out where I live, it sounds like they have had this content that you have to pay for planned for a while. You could even say that there were things that were made for games, but were taken out before retail and then sold back to us though marketplace.

How can you know if you are getting genuine extra content that never would have made it into the game, or if you are just getting things that were held back from the game only to be sold to you later?

ManicMinerUK said:"Can someone tell Kiigan that you just dab the shoulders"

What, you get some cologne and dab a little on your shoulders and the button configuration changes?

    That's freakin' awesome.
