Play Kameo co-op online

Free patch.

Kameo fans who've been waiting for more updates should swing by Xbox Live Marketplace today - not only can you download another pair of costume packs for 200 points each, but Microsoft's released the anticipated online co-op patch too.

Best of all, online co-op is free - just log in and you'll be prompted to download the patch, which enables you and a pal to take advantage of Kameo's co-op mode over the internet.

Those tempted by other downloads can also go for a Fight Warrior Pack and a Masquerade Pack, according to Microsoft's Xbox Live blogsmith Major Nelson, who announced both sets of updates yesterday evening.

    Great, been waiting for this.
  • smoison #2 6 years ago

Man, how come online co-op is NEVER given to games like HL2, FEAR, OR ANY PC SHOOTERS!

Lazy developers just wait for people to mod it themselves!
  • djchump #3 6 years ago

@Smoison - Or maybe the "lazy developers" are busy working on the sequel to the game? As in, an online co-op patch doesn't make the developers any money, whereas a sequel will.

You do the math, eh? ;-)
  • Furbs #4 6 years ago

    Kameo Gamer Tag - 80pts
    Kameo Crappy Costumes - 200pts
Oblivion Crappy Horsie Clothes - 200pts

Online coop adding a whole new dimension to a game - priceless (free).

Anyone not understand the pricing model at all or is it just me? :)
  • lambtron #5 6 years ago

I'll make it simple for you smoison...

COOP = Not trivial to do.
Online = Especially not trivial to do.

Online + Coop = fecking hard.

When its hard enough to get a game out the door and even harder to do it with online, then adding something of this complexity to the schedule to do isn't just a case of not being lazy.
  • Dizzy #6 6 years ago

    Anyone tried it?

    Good?
  • flp #7 6 years ago

  • Sorb #8 6 years ago

That sounds awesome, now I just need somebody to play with!
  • gizmo #9 6 years ago

Me thinks flp hasn't really heard that at all, and is waiting for a ps3.
  • thegamesthething #10 6 years ago

Well he might have heard it. His mum might have told him. Or a mate at school or work or something. Great contribution anyway flp.

I've played the co-op quite a lot with my son. It's very good, if you like the single player. Will be up for some tonight.
  • coojam #11 6 years ago

If its the same as the offline co-op, its a little poorly implemented, as you don't so much get to play the entire quest, as much as separate missions. Still, it unlocks gamerpoints, and co-op is always fun.

I should bloody think it is free too, see as I'm sure they promised it for launch but had to leave it out to make the November/December release (just like PDZ's 32 player deathmatch)

  • flp #13 6 years ago

Gizmo, no, honest guv, I really did hear that.

thegamesthething, I heard it from a friend who has been testing it these past few weeks. I was just answering the question in the previous comment. To make my great contribution greater, it should be pointed out that he loves Kameo, and that I'm not waiting for a PS3.

    Must dash, double science! x x x

Too late. Should have been in at launch. Playing other stuff now.
  • kangarootoo #15 6 years ago

lambtron has pretty much said everything I was going to add here.

smoison, if you had any idea what was involved in adding co-op to something like HL2 you wouldn't shout "lazy" so freely.

One final note, but lets not hijack the thread with it. Learn from this Bethesda, £2 for a poxy horsey dressing gown compared with online co-op play for free. Hmmmm.
  • kangarootoo #16 6 years ago

    @Kiigan

LOL. I'm sure Rare are gutted to lose you (even though they already have your dosh).
  • Kiigan #17 6 years ago

    @kangarootoo

Not sure what your point is there. My point was merely that this feature should have been in the release version - there was even a big gaping space in the menu where it was supposed to be. Fairly pointless releasing this patch now, in my humble opinion.

As for Rare having my dosh - they don't actually. I brought the game back to my local retailer for a full refund. But I'm sure you'll still find something else to LOL about.
  • kangarootoo #18 6 years ago

Ah, very true. I'm sorry, it was a childish jibe that should be beneath me.

I found your "should have been in at launch" comment a little odd, because its not the sort of game that demands co-op play. They could have left it out with no real sense of failure, so gamers are pretty much getting this for free. Everything takes time and money, would you prefer they delayed the release until it was included?

All of that aside, I was a bit silly with my "nyah nyah" type comment. Just having a "type quickly and get back to work" kind of day, which can sometimes result in turet like posts.

"But I'm sure you'll still find something else to LOL about"
    I certainly hope so.
  • TripSkyway #19 6 years ago

Tis good fun, hadn't tried the co-op before. I'm glad they made the effort to finish this off and bring it out, it they could have just left it having already released the game.

"As for Rare having my dosh - they don't actually. I brought the game back to my local retailer for a full refund. But I'm sure you'll still find something else to LOL about."
I hate to break it to you, but they actually do.
I don't think Game (or whoever you bought it from) bills the distributor for every return they get. The shop foots the bill and then just tries to sell it on as new/used to minimise loss.
So they are laughing, even harder probably.

I own this game, enjoyed the single player, but don't see myself going back to it. I only genereally do this kind of co-op stuff with 'real' friends, (not matchmaking etc), and none of them own it. A friend rented it, but has given it back already. Yes, it should have been there from the start I agree, the obviousness of the missing option in the co-op menu in Kameo was laughable.

    @ flp
Your original contibution was hardly informative, interesting or constuctive, it did in fact, suck. Your second (re-inforcing) post hardly banged us to rights:
"I heard it from a friend who has been testing it these past few weeks"
    Cuts no ice with me.

"Hey I heard Killzone PS3 was gonna suck because my friend's Gran's third cousin told this guy once that he'd seen someone playing it and they looked depressed."

I think you should stick to double science.
  • kangarootoo #21 6 years ago

"the obviousness of the missing option in the co-op menu in Kameo was laughable"

Thats interesting. So there was actually a menu option, but nothing to back it up? If thats the case, it is a bit shonky. Still, never look a gift horse etc.
  • #22 6 years ago

    Menus went something like this:
    Kameo>
    Single Player

    Single Player

    Split screen
    *massive gap*

I wonder what night have gone in there?

To clarify: I was simply answering the previous comment based on the knowledge I had of the subject. I have yet to play it, but thought that the surprisingly negative opinion of a (usually enthusiastic/biased) Rare tester, who has been playing online co-op for the last few weeks, might be of use.

Apologies if my answer wasn't informative, interesting or constructive to you, please click 'ignore poster' to avoid further disappointment.
