Weekly PAL Releases Roundup

Games due out tomorrow.

Given Eurogamer's existing penchants for dressing eclectically, charging into packed rooms waving sticks, and babbling incomprehensibly in the pursuit of justice for our people, it's a wonder it's only Dave McCarthy who bangs the war-drum for Dynasty Warriors, and yet so it is. Flail your sticks at Koei's crowds of ancient foreigners long enough, he says, and you will appreciate the macro-micro mix of tactics and precision-violence that go into being any good at it.

And don't tell him the enemies behave stupidly, because he doesn't like that, although we're not sure of his stance on pointing out that we had a go on in last night and could only distinguish friend from foe by looking across the sea of heads for health-bars and Chinese names that we'd probably sound massively racist if we tried to pronounce. Dave? While we're waiting for an answer, do read his review, because you really do injure him when you don't buy Dynasty Warriors, and he says this one's the best.

Your other main option this week (if we're being realistic) is the less cerebral Army of Two, which is the good, surprisingly tactical answer to the question of who would win a fight between two Jason Voorhees impersonators and the entire Middle-East. Could it be this year's Gears of War for silly online shoot-'em-up co-operation? Well, Oli didn't write that in his review, but when I collared him and said, "could it be this year's Gears of War for silly online shoot-'em-up co-operation", he said "yes". Then he said, "it's nothing like as polished, mind".

Elsewhere, Bully is out on Xbox 360 and Wii on Friday. We liked Bully on PS2. It was probably the most inventive thing anyone had done with the openworld gameplay idea since GTA III. Well, maybe not, but it was certainly distinctive, and didn't deserve the bashing it got from the mainstream press. We don't need much of an excuse to play it again, but Xbox 360 Achievements is a good one, and being able to flap the Wiimote around is another good one. Good one, Rockstar! All that said, you might want to wait for a few PAL reviews before taking the plunge, given that the publisher has spotted some issues with the US code released earlier this week.
