FF Rev rumours dismissed

Squenix says report is incorrect.

Square-Enix has dismissed reports that Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Revolution will be released by 2007, telling Eurogamer that they are "incorrect."

The rumours began to emerge after an article appeared on N-Planet.com which claimed the game would hit US shelves by 2007. Squenix president Yoichi Wada was quoted as saying that the game will feature "online capabilities, magnificent graphics and an intense use of the revolutionary control of the platform."

But a spokesperson for Square-Enix told us: "The online reports are incorrect. No new information has been disclosed since the official announcement last May."

Back then, Wada did hint that FF: Crystal Chronicles might have an online mode, stating: "We would like to strongly support Nintendo’s next-generation networking plans.

"The Revolution may embody a new platform beyond a portable or console, which makes possible a new structure in the network gaming system, changing the ways communities are built and supported. This is the kind of direction we’ve envisioned, and we will challenge ourselves to provide immersive interactive content in response to what Nintendo offers.”

So, online play is a definite possibility - but for confirmation, and for news of whether the game will make use of the Revolutions crazy remote controller, we'll just have to wait and see. Here's hoping Squenix reveals more of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles at this year's E3...

I didn't like crystal chronicles on the cube so i probably won't like this one. Its sad for nintendo fanboys that final fantasy XIII will never go on the revolution. The revolution would choke on the graphics needed for that game

The only way they'll catch my attention is to put a proper single-player game in there too. I was all up for FFCC until it became apparent that you really wouldn't get much out of it without a bundle of mates to play alongside you. Which is rubbish, tbh. I don't like people.

I loved the idea behind FFCC, but among my friends we have 4 Cubes and 1 GBA. Doh!

FFCC was one of my most favourite gaming experiences of 2004. I was one of the few that was fortunate enough to have sufficient GBA SP owning buddies to guarantee at least two FFCC sessions a week back then. Really needed to be played with 4 players to be appreciated fully.
The way that co-operation was encouraged was wonderful, and made for some of the best multiplayer console gaming sessions I've ever had.
When we got about halfway through and realised we could get much better gear by co-operating rather than competing on the 'challenges' given in each dungeon (e.g: don't use magic, open lots of chests etc.) a whole new depth to the gameplay became apparent.
This was enough to warrant us giving it a second run through so as to cover more and also to give some other friends who had missed out first time round a chance to join our Crystal Caravan.
I can't wait to play this on the rev, and I don't mind if it requires the use of a DS to play in offline multiplayer, since by then most of my friends will have at least 2 DS's each.. (1 normal, 1 lite!)

And what online report ISN'T incorrect?

Note: that they dont say it's not correct. They just say they've not announced anything official on it yet.

Basically, I'm of the same view as kenty. Done properly, with a bit of organisation and scheduling, FFCC is one of the best games available on the GameCube.

My team clocked up 50+ hours, over about 2 months of 1 or 2 sessions a week. We'd do three dungeons per session, and it helped to keep the whole experience exciting. Can't wait for the Rev and DS incarnations, especially if they're online and as indepth.

Im all up for this idea of playing together. But surely a game which is available to the majority of cube owners not the small majority would be a better idea, ya know financially.

Phantasy Star online is meant to be played together, and its pretty much just kill, kill, kill, collect, kill etc but its still pretty ace playing alone. I used to spend hours just levelling up and collecting cool items.

Satoru Iwata CONFIRMED that FFCC II would be online when he announced it at Nintendo's E3 2005 Press conference.

I though people already knew that?
