MotoGP '06 dated

Cornered.

MotoGP '06 is due out on Xbox 360 in May, THQ's announced.

'06 is the, er, fourth game in the Climax-developed series, and bears all the usual marks of officialdom - all the correct bikes and bikers, tracks and whatnot. Better yet, it's licensed to include all 2005 season data as well as 2006 data, which will download via Xbox Live as the season unfolds.

On the track, it's looking sharper than ever. As we said when we look a look at it recently, it details the bikes down to a thoroughly silly level. THQ boasts that even the serial numbers are present on the bike parts if you file them down enough. Show-offs.

It ought to be a little easier to get into this time too, but still capable of challenging folks who've been with it from the start - online and all.

Check out the MotoGP '06 game page for more info including an interview with Climax.

"HQ boasts that even the serial numbers are present on the bike parts if you file them down enough."

surely filling down the srial numbers will remove them?

Ta for the heads up though.

Looking forward to this hope it comes out here, and with the english menus in there. Else it's gunna be time to buy a UK 360 on import. Anyone know if the hard drives work on any region 360? If I have to import I'd like to just swap mine over and save a few quid.

Tried MotoGP 3 - so, so, so freaking hard (even with a controller), it literally made me cry. I got so upset I booted up TrackMania Nations for solace, more to feel like a human being and not a totally inept quadruple-amputee baboob trying to ride a bike.

Will get back to it though.

Hot damn! Thos screens do look nice. But given that only about half of them have the depth of field blurring that is so purdy lookin', I suspect its not an actual game feature. Love to be wrong though.

Went out on my bike this weekend for the first time in a while. God bikes are great, everyone should own one.

I only recently bought Moto GP 2 for a fiver and I love how you can set the handlig to 100% sim, it's VERY difficult. It was difficult enough as it is just to get a decent flawless lap, now it's so challenging. I have to say the utter idiocy of the AI ruined races for me, just like with any F1 game for example (except I'm sure Geoff Crammonds GP4 which sadly never got an Xbox release).

One thing that utterly annoys me too is the whole distorted perspective and blurring done to create a 'sense of speed' when you really get going along a straight. If real bikers experience those effects then there's something very wrong, plus it does literally make what is a very challenging, sim based game utter nonsense, and almost unplayable. It looks cool and I'm sure it's helped sell a few more Xboxes but could they at least give the player the option to turn it off. When you do the reverse view on a straight it's a completely normal perspective and you see just how messed up the front view really is. It spoils the game for me and I'm hoping beyond hope that they allow you to set the level of this 'effect' in this new game cos it looks very good, another new reason for me to steal/rob/pillage for a 360! I just want to play a nice sim based Moto GP game, not with that poorly judged Burnout-esque addition just for the sake of cool visuals. *rant over*
