Lego Star Wars 2 coming?

Rumours of sequel abound.

Rumours are flying all over the Internet that a sequel to Lego Star Wars is currently in development - and so far, we've yet to hear an outright denial.

It all started when fan site TheForce.net claimed an Xbox magazine is about to publish details on the sequel, which is said to be set during the era of the Original Trilogy. The Force.net report, which had pictures and everything, said that you'll be able to create your own vehicles and spaceships using virtual Lego bricks, and design customised characters within the Star Wars universe.

But the report has since mysteriously disappeared from the site - so Eurogamer contacted publisher Giant to find out if the rumour was true. Their representative told us he'd have to "remain tight-lipped for now." Not a definite yes, then, but we're hopeful something official could be announced soon... And that the game will be released on May the 4th.

I'm not sure I've been this excited since the announcement of Lego Star Wars 1. How apt.

Judging by the current comments on TheForce and various other pieces of evidence... seems like it is in fact all true.

Lego Star Wars had to be the game that had the greatest gulf between how much I thought i'd enjoy it, and how much I did. Hopefully they will recognise the people who really liked the first, and build a much more complex and occasionally challenging game.

You can't make it harder!! its supposed to be a kids game, you make it harder and you take the fun out of it for the kids. My nephew is still playing the first game.

People also loved KotOR and ... we seen the results.

Mix feelings on this ... first this likely end up being "more of the same" but that is not a bad thing and Eidos is not in this, it seens its LucasArts itself doing development and when was the last time they did a game?

First there were the movies. Then there were the prequels. In between there have been at least a billion RTSs, RPGs, puzzlers, platformers, etc etc on the theme.

How many movies/games in the Star Wars saga have been actually good? Just a question.

Well the X-Wing to X-Wing vs Tie Fighter games were pretty good. Especially the last one where you got to pilot pretty much everything. I quite liked Star Wars Supremecy but that wasn't to every ones tastes. The Kyle Katarn range of FPS games was pretty good fun, Jedi Acedemy was great too. The new Star Wars Galactic wars is looking good. KOTOR was meant to be brilliant and Lego Star Wars was also very good (even for a kids game).

So all in all I would say there have been quite a few good Star Wars games.

Lego Star Wars is great. Let's hope the same for the sequel.

Man, I used to love X-Wing. Especially when friends would play the role of an R2 unit and handle the keyboard leaving me to fly around and shoot (and shout "aft shields! AFT!";)

It wouldn't surprise me. This game has been a massive success and was almost single-handedly responsible for making Eidos a profit last year.

As for good Star Wars games? I think the ratio of poor/great is about 3/1. The X-Wing/TIE Fighter games were great, the KotOR games are obviously very good (although I think I'd get bored unless the next game changed things around a fair bit), I enjoyed the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games (although again, each subsequent game was weaker than the previous), and the Rogue Squadron games are decent, but again, in need of more variety if there are any more sequels.

Incidentally, I enjoyed playing the original arcade games as the bonus feature on Rebel Strike more than the game itself [maybe ;)]

I enjoyed the first one and a second outting will be fun, but I have two questions:
    1) What on earth can they still put in it? Surely it was all covered in the first one.
    2) Will they QA it a little better thise time round? The last was rife with gameplay bugs, sound blips, clipping problems etc... The worst of which was when you would save up, return to the diner and load another game. Would hang my machine entirely. This might only be the Xbox version only though.

    1) They are doing Episodes 4-6 which I think can be even better
    2) I think this is an Xbox issue which they can hopefully sort out next time

At the end of the first game, you get to play as Vader - stomping around the Tantive IV. At the end of that level, you see Leia give R2 a message. The game ends and it says 'To Be Continued...'
