Sam & Max pricing details

9 dollars per episode.

Individual episodes in Telltale's first "season" of Sam & Max will cost just US$ 8.95, the developer announced this week - with all six available for US$ 34.95.

As previously announced, Telltale's done a deal with digital distribution company GameTap, meaning that the first episode, Culture Shock, will debut there on 17th October before it's made available at Telltale's website on 1st November.

After that, the other five episodes will follow at monthly intervals, each enjoying 15 days of GameTap exclusivity.

And once they're all out, anybody who paid for the whole season in one go will be able to have a CD containing all six episodes shipped to them for the price of postage and packing alone.

Sam & Max's long-awaited revival will see the "freelance police" duo of dog detective and rabbity-thing trying to find out what's happening with a group of former child stars who've become involved in nefarious deeds.

    Sounds cheap enough. So long as they allow your credit card company to work out the exchange rate and not charge us whatever they think is fair.

    @RobertFoster:

    Of course they will, it's an online sale.

    We're only screwed over on rrp over here on consoles/games/etc as the shop keepers & distributers take a bigger slice over here than over there.

    US prices are exclusive of sales tax as well.

    Everything over here would look cheap if it were advertised without VAT

    @smelly:

    I'm just a bit pissed off at online retailers right now. Play.com won't let people outside the UK buy stuff in sterling, forcing us to buy in euro at their own exchange rate which works out more expensive. Thus forcing a "shipping charge" on us while still claiming "free shipping".

    I've seen other online sellers (not just retailers) offering their own exchange rates / use multiple currencies, even for digital distribution.

    They do seem to have dropped their euro prices though. A dvd or game priced in euros only costs about 20 cents more on average now than it would in sterling. It's a hell of a lot better than their old euro prices where the difference would be a couple of euros.

    GameTap is US only though isn't it?

    $9 is much more reasonable than the old pricing structure that applied to Bone.

    Mucho looking forward to Sam&Max's return!
