New Too Human details
X05: More on futuristic actioner.
Silicon Knights has revealed new details of Too Human, the first instalment in what's billed as a "three part trilogy" (as opposed to a four part trilogy?) of epic action games.
Too Human, you may recall, was long ago announced as being in development for the PlayStation and then the GameCube - but it was finally confirmed as an Xbox 360 exclusive back in May.
The game sees you playing as "Cybernetic God" Baldur, who finds himself tasked with fighting for the whole of humankind after an army of monstrous machines goes on the warpath.
We're promised a "non-stop barrage of action powered by the seamless integration of melee and ranged firearms combat," and an intuitive combat system that will let you perform complex manoeuvres with the press of a single button and execute long chains of combos.
The game is being developed using the Unreal 3 engine for "unparalleled visual fidelity", and we can expect cinematic quality graphics apparently. There's a proper orchestral score, too, which "sets the mood for heartbreak, anger and bloodlust." We find the same effect can be achieved with that new Sugababes record but if they want to get all fancy that's their business.
Too Human is due out next Christmas.

Given how long they've taken to release the first part, I'm surprised they've been brave enough to announce it as the first part of a trilogy! Look forward to seeing part two on the Xbox 720.
Should be good, this one. Silicon Knights haven't let us down yet, dev times aside.

Don't like the multiple games strategy though... those are always annoying.

MGS is going to be a trilogy in four parts too... So was Hitchhikers Guide...
I suspect the FPS using Unreal Engine generic game will be the first trilogy in 1 part... Unless they do something different...

Developing games for the masses it seems. Same deal for the games Im working on. The thought of achieving 'complex manoeuvres' through player skill alone is non-existent any more?
Pah I dunno. I just hate seeing comments like that. The harder the better for me

"..by the seamless integration of melee and ranged firearms combat" and this part usually that you'll end up using just firearms or melee, because either the areas are too large for melee to be worthwhile, or too closed for firearms.
Possible they'll dodge both mistakes, but still worth being wary.
Also: "melee and ranged firearms combat"?
So, melee firearm -combat exists?

So, melee firearm -combat exists?
Wouldn't that be like asking when a driver learning centre offers "motorbike and double-decker bus courses" if there is also "motorbike bus courses"?

Hurray for the use of the Unreal 3 engine then!

edit: although, anyone who has watched Equilibrium could say that there is, indeed, such a thing as "melee firearm combat".
