New Wolfenstein leads on X360
X05: Carmack praises platform.
id Software and Raven are collaborating on a new title based on the Wolfenstein World War II franchise, which will lead on Xbox 360, we've just heard from Amsterdam, where the X05 press conference has now finished. For now the game's called Castle Wolfenstein.
id CEO Todd Hollenshead took to the stage to announce the game, which is multiformat but leading on Xbox 360 - presumably in the same arrangement as Quake 4, which appears on X360 and PC. We'll let you know more when we do.
Speaking on video, id Software's technical supremo John Carmack also paid tribute to the Xbox 360 format, describing it as "better than PC" for games development.
Well, gosh, eh?

Interesting comment, seeing as how we've come to expect console technology to surpass the common garden PC for a while until the PC overtakes a year or two later... I have to say though, I still expect the PC to be the better format for playing FPS games on.

Can't disagree with that. I must say I am not exactly that interested anymore in the new id game now I heard Carmack sliming for MS.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein had a really great atmosphere, with the music and the minute details in so many ways. Its the only singleplayer game I have ever played three times. Really looking forward to shis.
Great times for us gamers now: F.E.A.R., Quake 4 (omg), Serious Sam 2 etc.

On video, eh? So you couldn't see the Microsoft mafia holding him at gunpoint from behind the camera, then?
Why are so many of these 360 announcements for FPS? :-/

RE: "better than PC for development" - he's probably right you know... seeings as XB360 basically IS a PC with a predetermined video card, RAM etc. Not having to support the whole gammut of PC hardware that's out there and make sure your game works on it all must make development a whole lot easier

I'm not so keen on having to play as a team, but even with out free-for-all battles the game will own.
Bring it on, I completed Doom3 today, so I want more id games, my favorite software company.
Anyone else think the CyberDemon was a bit easy???
