Halo character in DOA4

But it isn't Master Chief?

Bungie's confirmed reports that a Halo character will appear in Tecmo's Xbox 360 launch title Dead or Alive 4. Neither company's been prepared to say who, but GameInformer, which originally ran the story, reckons it isn't the Master Chief.

Hoooowever, Bungie's webmaster also noted that this isn't the "surprising, cool, awesome Bungie-related announcement" we were told to expect this week, although it's not Halo 3 either so we're still guessing. Any suggestions?

In the meantime, here's what Bungie had to say about one of its characters appearing in DOA4: "Bungie has indeed been chatting with the good folks over at Team Ninja. We're huge fans of DOA and Ninja Gaiden, and when Team Ninja approached us with an intriguing idea, well, we were intrigued. Naturally. Tomonobu Itagaki's team is among the most talented in the games business, and we've SEEN the character in action. Words like, OMG, BBQ and Zoinks immediately come to mind. What they've done so far, is perfectly capture the essence of (insert crackpot theory here) and bring an element of Halo directly into the DOA world. It's cool. And by cool, I mean totally sweet.

"We're going to tell you lots more about how this idea came to fruition in a future update, and we'll tell you how this character fits into the Halo and DOA universe too. Don't worry, Team Ninja handled the fighting style, and we handled the story aspects. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the explanation for a Halo character in the DOA universe, even if it's a bit tongue in cheek."

Microsoft's X05 showcase takes place in Amsterdam today and tomorrow [Word Macro Of The Day there - Ed] and we'll be staying up to let you know if anything comes out of tonight's proceedings. Which it will, obviously - we're just wondering what. Feel free to speculate all you like.

    "Make it Sarge please-o!"

I think that's the right guess actually...

They should put Bill in there.

    o_O

It never fails to amaze me how much an out-of-place cameo shoe-horned into an obviously competely-different game can excite so many people.
  • Teeth #10 7 years ago

It's DOA so odds on it's Cortana.

Isn't halo set quite a few years in the future, and DOA set around present day?

So it could be the original MC or a relative of Keyes, etc, and they'll tie the stories together in a 'Lance Henrikson/Mr. Weyland in AvP' kind of way (or it could be Cortana in a 'Hivemind is the developers child in Resident Evil the movie' kind of way). Paul Anderson's written it hasn't he ?!?

I agree with Blerk though, I don't like these kinds of crossovers.

Oh ffs, DOA doesn't need silly Nintendo-esque gimmicks like this! No cameos please!

If Halo characters need to appear in another genre so badly, make Halo Kart or whatever. Keep the gimmicks away from the good games please.

Check out Bungie.net news story. Bouncing bobbies and we all know who that has to be. Even though she is a hologram it does'nt matter. DOA can make up any sort of story. Its not exactly real life.

Soul Calibur 2 was on all consoles...

Just we remember SC2 on the 'Cube more because it had Link, and Link was cool. PS2 has Heihachi and X-Box had Spawn - so don't shoehorn that gimmick squarely onto Nintendo's shoulders...

I do agree that this isn't a bright idea though... I don't think it worked for SC2 (Link was uber-cool but seriously out of place.)... I think others are right. It's DOA. Odds on, it'll be Cortana...

No comments from Tekken team? ;)

Could be Cortana before she became a computer AI. A human Cortana.
  • dbeamish #17 7 years ago

Sweet! This definitely clinches DOA4 as a launch title for me

Jesus, you freak. How can some random character in a game suddenly make you think "oo yeah baby I wasn't going to buy this but now its got someone from the most over hyped game in the world in it I must buy it"..

    nutcase..

Some sites report that they are coming up with Halo mobile themes. Then there is the movie. I wonder when there will be Master Chief themed action figures, cups, tee-shirts, clothing line, hip hop album by some ten-cent rapper, special edition Ford Taurus... I mean, don't you guys see you are diluting a great brand? I understand the need for additional revenue stream, but I never saw a Windows XP commemorative cup (if there is one, then forgive me..)

Yep, my money's on Cortana as well.
  • Carrybagma #20 7 years ago

It'll be Bill himself, taking down all with his hard-drive smash and the Halo3 defence.
  • Dizzy #21 7 years ago

I don't think they are going to "waste" Cortana on DOA.... it is going to be an elite. Woot! Woot! Woot!
  • Mike69_2004 #22 7 years ago

    its obviously Sarge
  • ali-uk #23 7 years ago

Why does everyone get a boner over Cortana? She's fucking blue!
  • Teeth #24 7 years ago

I don't. But it'll still be her. Do the "math", it's DOA = bouncy breasts, Halo characters with obvious boobies: Cortana... er.... well probably just Cortana actually.

Plus she's totally sexsy! Because she is a computer too!

I made love to a BBC Micro...

  • Freek #25 7 years ago

Probably is Cortana. Transplanted into some sort of cybernetic body, with bouncy boobs ofcourse.

Plus they did that "time traveling AI" bitt for the viral marketing of Halo 2, probably just do that again.

    Halo Cart!

Played that already. It was the last level of Halo1
  • Tiger_Walts #27 7 years ago

    I hope it's Pvt Jenkins. :)
  • Xerx3s #28 7 years ago

    Cortana with amped tits ;p

"Make it Sarge please-o! " - But then again, sarge would fit in just fine with the 'bayman' category.

"Isn't halo set quite a few years in the future, and DOA set around present day?" Thats the story element. They introduced the totally original element of time travel.

If this isn't Cortana I will personally eat my own ass.
  • Repsode #30 7 years ago

Let us not forget that this isn't the first time a guest character appeared in DOA, Ryu Hayabusa himself was a novelty character when the first DOA came out. And now he's an intergral member of the game's cast. And I dont think any member of the Halo cast is gonna look any less out of place than Zack's Teletubby outfit or bikini clad girls in in the rain or on city streets.

My bet is the Pillar of Autum!
  • Kosumo #33 7 years ago

You never know, it could end up being some crazy transformer-esque Warthog called James. Hell, if they did that I'd buy it!
  • GitSomE_UK #34 7 years ago

"Words like, OMG, BBQ and Zoinks immediately come to mind."

Ummm who says acronyms aloud? why would you describe something as BBQ and anybody who says Zoinks in public definately needs flaying in public with their XBox controllers.

Oh and cameos in DOA4... Meh!
