I used to have broadband, and now I only have satellite (which is shit, frankly), so this is actually the only way I can get these games now!

This is a good sign , up untill now MS has been focussing alot on the hardcore and tech heads who have money to burn(or just enough), this pack would be good for a casual gamer whos a bit skint at the time. Not everyone has or is going to get a HDTV and broadband, it's simply too expensive to some, MS knew this which is why I defended the core to some extent(shame they couldnt have just used a 10gb HDD though but the difference in manufacturing costs of the drives is probably so low that theyd be losing too much with the core this way)... it shows they havent forgotten about this crowd which is equally important(maybe moreso in the long run). The core and releases like this are made for this crowd(even if youd prefer the premium... the core will do some people just fine) and also a good sign for those who have the 360 now on a SDTV and are slightly worried about devs not putting enough thought into the experience had on a standard telly. Early adopters are most likely to be the ones with the means for displaying games in Hi-def(or the funds to), so perhaps MS will start really putting their foot down soon on devs who are overlooking that(because patching will not always be possible... *btw Im talking specifically about the issues some have had with SDTV and no more here, of which there are only a few examples I can think of... other minor gameplay issues arent as important and nothing new, infact its good that devs can sort these things out these days rather than just leave them* first gen games can be shiped with these patches on the disk once old stock is cleared... which is probably way before the time the majority of this audience jumps on board).

On Live news I was more interested that Vivendi are releasing a load of their old PC games on Live.
The Incredible Machine and Red Baron are the two that stick out at this point though just the idea of a developer releasing some of their old PC back catalog on Live is great.

@bezzy: no, it is not. You just have to connect your XBox to your PC, share your connection, and you're set up. It's as simple as that. I've got all my xbox live arcade games directly from the net in the last few days, and I have just a 56k modem. Sure, you won't be able to play on Live!, but, at least for me, having access to Live Arcade games, game updates and all the online leaderboards is enough to justify the monthly fee.

@calgon: really, I don't get all this "using standard TV is an issue" speaking of the XBox 360. The difference between a standard telly and an HDTV is just resolution. No gameplay changes between the two, even if games on HDTV look better (but, don't be fooled, on the standard telly games such as GRAW, that are pushing the machine a little bit still look beautiful...). I've got the choice between playing on my telly (while at bed) and on my VGA monitor (on the sofa), and I alternatively play on both, with no problem whatsoever. So, just enjoy what you have, and don't fear, you're not losing anything even if you can't buy an HDTV... and when (and if) you'll do, it will probably make a difference for a couple of weeks, then you'll get used to it too and you won't notice the greater quality anymore...
