Far Cry 360 demo

Try out Lost Refinery MP.

Demo-loving Xbox 360 owners can now get their hands on a free trial version of Far Cry Instincts Predator - Ubisoft's two-game first-person shooter - and try various multiplayer game modes on the "Lost Refinery" map.

Available three and only 344.48MB in size, the demo is playable over Live by up to sixteen people, and includes all of the game modes available in the full title - Steal The Sample, Chaos, Team Chaos, Seek and Secure and Predator - according to the demo description.

The full game is already out of course - has been for a while - and consists of the original Far Cry Instincts game released on Xbox as well as a new chapter, Evolution, that you can access once you've finished FCI. Having to work your way through FCI to reach Evolution is a bit of a pity, but otherwise it's "well worth renting" according to Kristan's review, and "is consistently varied and enjoyable enough to keep you going for 20 hours".

Mind you, if you've only got an Xbox 1, you can still play it - Instincts and Evolution were released separately on that format, and they're still extremely impressive (and cheap) compared to a lot of their green-box chums.

Absolute toilet. Had considered buying this game before I played the demo. I think I'll stick to CoD2 and GRAW.

Yup, got it last night. I gave it around 10 mins and prob won't go back to it.
I think the focus of this game was SP though, so don't lose heart. Certainly the SP demo on the old Xbox was pretty good - a lot better than this.

Awful game... awful awful awful... yuck!

TBH I think it is ok ... Not ground braking and certainly not worth £39.99-49.99 but generally ok considering there aren't any solid FPS's on the 360 atm.

Generally it's very similar to the xbox versions but just slightly crisper and nicely animated/textured water.

It's only £30 now in most shops, but still,it's really really crap, and other than some nice water effects it has the cruddiest 360 graphics yet.

I haven't played it, but guys, if you want FAr Cry, get the PC version. Forget this.

That's the laggiest pile of shite i've ever played. And i've tried the demo 3 times now and it's still laggy.

The graphics are terrible too. The aiming is weird, and it's just altogether crap.

Far Cry on PC was a revelation, absolute joy. The demo of this "version" on 360 was very bad. Nuff said.

As I understand it, Crytek guys only made the PC Far Cry. Then Ubisoft took over and used the engine for the console versions. That is why this game sucks, even though Ubi do not make a bad game easily.

This was fun on the xbox, but I found this iteration to be just an xbox game on the 360. Sucky suck.

I have to say that I was rather disappointed by the demo. I'd been expecting me some Far Cry goodness, but this just isn't up to par.

I still might get it for the SP experience, once in the bargain bins.

Agreed, was interesting for 5 mins, then lags and poor quad bike handling made me not happy with it

I bought the game last year and was shocked that the devlopers had messed up the controls from the Xbox version, it renders the 360 game almost unplayable as far as I'm concerned as no amount of tweaking makes them feel comfortable. I heard they were supposed to be patching the game to fix the controls but I don't know when it's out. Considering the game came out six months ago, it's a case of too little, too late I'm afraid and the 360 conversion was very poor anyway. Apart from being in h-def and having nice-looking water and a longer draw distance, everything else was a direct port from the Xbox version... very lazy and not worth the £50 RRP in my view.

I agree completely. I rather liked the XB version overall (I thought its controls were somewhat dodgy, but it was still lotys of fun), but I ended up taking the 360 version back to the shop as the aiming was just so bloody awful as to kill the game.

    Here ->

is where I would have written my usual rant about piss poor and inexcusable aiming systems on twin sticks. Instead I shall go shut my head in a cupboard door a few times (the pain makes me forget).

the pc game was awesome, unlike anything else we had seen for ages, the xbox game was passable, and gave me 20ish hours of fun, the 360 game was an embarrasment from minute 1, I waited for the shop to open on launch day, bought it, rushed home, and played sp for about 1 hour, got bored, and went for MP. Unplayable lag, impossible aiming, and altogether a complete mess, they should have just made the xbox game BC and avoided the pr disaster that is FCI:p

And they thought that releasing a demo would improve sales how?

I do have to add that I've had no lag issues whatsoever. (Hosting a game of twelve players on 2/1M DSL connection.)
