Dungeon Siege II demo up

More Eurofiles goodness.

Microsoft has released a playable demo for its 3D role-playing sequel, Dungeon Siege II – now available on Eurofiles.

The rather large (1,431MB [Jumping donkeys! - Ed]) single-player download offers a chance to watch the two lengthy introductory cut-scenes before leaping into the tutorial section, taking you up to the Elven Shrine area from the Mercenary campaign. That may sound a little weird to onlookers, but trust us; it's worth the potential ridicule.

Gas Powered Games' Dungeon Siege II will be released on PC this September.

I spent all day downloading it and have just played for a bit... it's ok, I was expecting big things but I guess I need to spend more time with it

Hm, I had Azureus running for two hours now, and had an average download speed of 4kb per second. It's definitely not a problem on my end, as other torrents work just fine (and easily reach the max download speed of my DSL connection). If not many people are downloading it at the same time, shouldn't the server be able to help out?

I sure as FECK ain't downloading no 1.4 gig demo for two cut-scenes! They are there to set the mood for the game, not to bloat every single download around it!
  • lemonfist #12 7 years ago

Downloaded it earlier today, but don't even feel like installing it now after watching some horribly depressing screenshots :/
  • Hunam85 #13 7 years ago

this demo is so bad i wanted to hurt myself
  • penhalion #14 7 years ago

Ok how the feck did it take them god knows how many years to produce an add-on for the original dungeon siege....it's a whole new game you say.....yea sure what evar!

Seriously though. What has changed. Did I miss something? I even compared the original to the demo and I'm just plain stumped as to what is new and different about Dungeon siege 2. Slightly better graphics but, still no story (aside from some totally non- gamplay related cut scenes). Your character doesn't even have the moves he displays in the cut scenes just plain click and hack boredom!

I actually thought it was a strength of Dungeon Siege that it had no story. I would've liked to get the objectives, too, without cutscenes of any sort. Straight hack'n'slash, thank you!

I haven't completed the first one, though, but I've liked the bits I've played quite a... bit. Although I do confess I bought it in anticipation of the Lazarus V mod.

    Jlaakso

My point is that this isn't an improvement on the original dungeon siege that you would have thought 4 odd years of development would bring! No shaders, no normal maps (that I notived anyway) no better fighting animations (go check out KOTOR for how an automated battle sequence should look. If you don't control what moves your character has, at least let it look like they are fighting properly).

This game uses none of the features of any new graphics cards. If you have upgraded in the last 2-3 years to even a lowly 6200 or X300, this game will not be using the shader features of your card!

No doubt money will change hands and Eurogamer will give it a 9/10 or something equally ludicrous
