Burnout back for Revenge

EA invites you to "live out your wildest commuter fantasies". Tom's not sure they want to know what he thinks about on the tube. (Zoo Keeper, mostly.)

EA is hoping to get our motors running, again, with an announcement that the next instalment in the Burnout series will go on show at this year's E3.

Only a few details of Burnout Revenge have been revealed so far, but we do know that it's all about, er, commuting. And that it's on PS2 and Xbox.

The game "lets gamers live out their wildest commuter fantasies", giving them the chance to "rip through rush hour traffic and lay waste to scores of rubbernecking roadhogs in an over-the-top scene of vehicular mayhem," said an overly-excited press release.

As well as new "tricked out" race, crash and road rage modes, there's the all-new Revenge mode which challenges players to battle against the clock in a race to get home in time for Hollyoaks.

The game follows last year's Burnout 3: Takedown, which won three BAFTAs - including Best PS2 Game and Best Racing Game - and sold around 15 million billion trillion copies.

Burnout Revenge is slated for a September release on PS2 and Xbox. You'll find some screenshots here.
