Sims 3, Sims Wii, Sims PS3

It's Sims City and EA's the mayor!

Electronic Arts has revealed that three new Sims games are in development at the moment, including a true Sims 3.

That game is due out in the 12 months beginning April 2008, so there's a bit of a way to go, but EA clearly has confidence in that estimate since chief financial officer Warren Jenson mentioned it in a conference call with investors this week.

Also mentioned in the conf. call, picked up on by GameSpot, is a new Sims title "specifically developed for the Wii platform". That one pretty much designs itself if you ask us - with comfort levels easily restored by using the Wii-mote like a TV remote when you need to relax, like a broom when you need to tidy up, and like a, er, actually, we'll stop there.

Elsewhere, Jenson apparently mentioned "The Sims 2 holiday edition on PS3" would be released in time for either Christmas 2006 or 2007. This year seems a bit soon if you ask us, but stranger things have happened.

Oh Lord. The day when I actually sit down to use a TV remote-like controller in order to control a charcter on the screen using a TV remote is the day when reality has officially jumped the shark. If that ever happens, I would have no choice but to kill myself.

What happened to False Sims 3 that I have been looking forward to?

    Hehehe@Muddtallica

Perhaps you could try kill yourself and your virtual self at the same moment in time by using said remote to bash over your head and thus the ingame characters ! lol

I agree with you totally fella, next you will b using it to make the Sim play on their games console, where they play the game an you have no control over them other than making them play it. Sounds great fun! Lol

Maybe you could force the sim to play your MS 360 arcade games an earn gamer points for you! lol

It IS EA we're talking about...

    EA in "developing-follow-up-to-key-title-Shocka".

Damn me for being miserable on a Friday morning and all cynical like.

Let them make money and develop interesting games.

So yes, I damn you for being cynical... it's getting dull ;)

I'd be very interested to see what The Sims 3 was like. I loved Sim City and some kind of merger of the two... well, I'd buy that for a dollar.

But if EA basically port The Sims PC to the Console intact (the only thing the company is good at TBH) then people will lap it up.

The sims was the top selling PC title of all time, come on EA throw us a freaking Bone.

/is shocked that he wants something from EA.

It could be worse: you control a character who sits down in front of a TV and picks up a Wii controller in order to control a character who sits down in front of a TV.

......to use the WiiMote as a Johnson for a Hilary Swank

I'm quite interested in the Sims 3. It seems inevitable that there will be an online visitor mode, where people will be able to visit each other's created world, animal crossing style.

    All sorts of possibilties.

Not sure about the Wii version.
