2K plans three for 360 launch

Amped 3, NHL 2K6 and NBA 2K6.

2K Sports is aiming to have Amped 3, NHL 2K6 and NBA 2K6 ready for the launch of Xbox 360 in Europe on December 2nd, the publisher confirmed today.

It's all a question of whether the games get through Microsoft's submission process in time, but speaking to Eurogamer this morning a 2K Sports rep said, "That's what we're working towards".

Of those, Amped 3 is probably the most interesting prospect from our perspective - it's 2K Sports' extension of the Amped Xbox series, formerly Microsoft-owned, and features seven new real-world snowboarding resorts.

Rather like SSX On Tour, which featured skiing in addition to 'boarding this year, Amped 3 also dumps the board now and then - in favour of snowmobiling and sledding. It'll also feature a worldwide ranking system run over Xbox Live, naturally.

EA hasn't yet announced an SSX for 360, so certainly to begin with Amped ought to be the system's only entry in that field - good news for those who favour what the developers believe to be a more realistic take on the noble art of riding a plank of wood down a snowy hill at stupid speeds.

They should drop Amped 3 and instead concentrate on a new Links game !!

    I want a new:

Top Spin, Amped, Links and RalliSport Challenge please.

The American version of the XSN range for the Xbox such as NFL Fever, NBA Inside Drive and NHL Rivals were quite good but rather average compared to the 2K5 lineup from Sega.

Er... the devs themselves have said that they've made it far more arcadey than Amped 2, to make it more accessible to the mainstream gamer.

    "What about topspin 2? "

Topspin is a MS game, not 2k sports

Top Spin 2 is actually a 2K Games franchise now, which is why the first game is now available on the PS2 as well as the Xbox, but it has sadly been delayed until February next year.

Mind you, judging by the footage I saw from X05 it really needs a few extra months development time because it currently looks like a hi-def version of the Xbox game.

Any links to the delay ? Not that I dont believe you or anythin ;)

Amped 3 is less punishing but not neccessarily more arcadey than Amped 2. It's still essentially the same game, you just don't fall on your head for every single little mistake. The big scores are still as easily lost and difficult to achieve though, so really this should be fantastic if you like Amped and you're not somehow sadistically tied to the sometimes overly sensitive balance.

2 already took steps towards being less about falling on your head, and this just continues that tradition. Hell, Amped 1 was rediculously easy to crash in. :)
