Atari's Leipzig line-up News

PC PlayStation 2 Xbox PSP Xbox 360
News by Tom Bramwell

3 August, 2006

Atari has announced its line-up for the Leipzig Games Convention, headlined by playable versions of Test Drive Unlimited and Neverwinter Nights 2.

Alone in the Dark will be there too in teaser form, along with playable code of Frontier Development's Thrillville and Ignition Banbury's Mercury Meltdown.

Rounding things out will be playable versions of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja, Point Blank DS, Arthur and the Minimoys, One Piece: Grand Adventure, and Dragon Ball Zs Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and Shin Budokai.

On top of that, Atari will be giving NVIDIA graphics cards away each day to the best Test Drive Unlimited players. If you're heading to Leipzig, look for Atari in hall 5.

Well, I'll be interested to see the AitD teaser. Aside from that they may as well have not bothered turning up.

Well, i think NWN always felt like an extension to the BG series for a lot of people (there was an allusion made to Neverwinter Nights by a character in BG1 I think I remember, and you were originally supposed to be able to import your BG2 character), and I think many of those people where disappointed that the single player campaign that came in the box wasn't nearly as interesting as what had come before.

NWN2 looks pretty enough, I just hope it plays aswell

The first game was seen as more like a module creation package with a crap story added on, the good content came much later and was largley fan created.

I tried re-playing some of it recently but couldnt get passed how badly the graphics and animation had aged...BG:2 looks better and thats 2D (and older).

Atari are giving something away?

Safe to assume Alone in the Dark won't be with us this side of Christmas then? Maybe they'll have sorted out their pricing policy by the time they're ready to release it...

Dragonball Z sells a LOT of copies. As incredible as that may sound, the cartoon has a lot of fans and the fighting game apparently isn't awful.

Also AITD is apparently very impressive, so you might want to reevaluate that opinion of Atari only doing shit.

You know, if Leipzig wants to position themselves as the successor to the old E3, they're going to need a snappier name for the convention.

Personally I'm very interested to see how NWN2 turns out. Once I have it, Atari can rot in hell for all I care.
