Atari unveils D&D Tactics for PSP

Single-player and co-op RPG.

Kuju and Atari are bringing the world of Dungeons & Dragons to PSP this Christmas in an extensive RPG with wireless multiplayer modes on top.

Using the D&D 3.5 rule-set, Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics will tell the story of a human child caught between two dragons striving for godhood, where the player's choice of path will have a significant bearing on his or her alignment to good or evil.

You'll be able to control a party of six in all, drawing upon ten basic classes (Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Wizard), five prestige classes and two Psionic classes (Psion and Psychic Warrior), and there'll be plenty of scope for customisation as well as the option to store multiple custom characters and parties on your Memory Stick - as many as it can hold in fact.

Along with a one-player campaign, D&D Tactics will support multiple players over wireless - either for a co-operative take on the solo campaign or so you can square off in the arena-based Dungeon Bash deathmatch mode, where saved parties can go at each other's throats/gizzards/not-the-face.

On top of all that, you'll be able to expect the odd bit of downloadable content after release - specifically new dungeons to trawl around.

Expect more on D&D Tactics in the coming weeks. Perhaps at little-known May trade show "E3".

Given that it has wireless multiplayer, I'm taking it this is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance with a fresh coat of paint? Again?

Ah! I see. So it's not BG:DA again, then.

Well that makes a nice change!

Do they mean something like Icewind Dale/Baldur's Gate series on the PC?
    Count me in!

    Gah -

At last I regret not owning a PSP.

I knew it would happen sooner or later

    Ooh interesting!

Yep, here's hoping for a BG/BG2 type game. That would be fab indeed.

Atari D&D games have been crap compared to Interplay D&D titles.

Why on Earth you think this Atari title is going to be like BG series (and I mean BG, not BG:DA) or IWD series when NwN was a step DOWN from BG series and was done by the exact same people.

Heck I have better chances of having hot sex with Naomi Campbell that Atari putting out a D&D title that does not stink.

This is going to be a DnD flavoured FF:TA. Anyone expecting BG (the PC CRPGs) on the PSP is going to be bitterly disappointed. Having said that, for the 1st time ever, I'm considering a PSP.
