Call of Duty 2 360 map plans

New content on the way.

Activision's announced details of the new maps it plans to release over Xbox Live for Infinity Ward's 360 version of Call of Duty 2.

In total, Activision's lining up nine maps split into three distinct packs - a free one and a 400-MS-point one, both due out in "spring", and a second five-map Invasion Pack due out in July.

The first batch of content will be a free pack consisting of Vossenack and Wallendar, Germany, along with a second premium Skirmish Map Pack of Kalach, Russia and Beaumont-Hague, France, which will go for 400 Microsoft points.

Judging by Microsoft's announcement yesterday, we could see that stuff going up during E3. Either way, it'll be showcased during the show on Activision's stand.

Meanwhile, July will see the launch of the Invasion Pack for 900 points, featuring Antoville, France (Crossroads), St. Louet, France (Newvillers), Amaye sur Seulles, France (Normandy), Alam Halfa, Egypt (Decoytown) and Rostov, Russia (Harbour).

We'll let you know whenever it goes up.

900 points is a lot for a map pack. If you get both you're looking at 1300 points for the maps, whats that? over a tenner.

That is much too high for me.

900 points? you're kidding right? and that's after you've spent £50 on the game in the first place. Ok, so I'm lucky enough to have the disposable income to buy a 360 and some games, but it doesn't mean I'll enjoy being milked for cash.

I guess publishers have seen too many idiots buy themes for 200 points and figured that they'll fall in line and buy overpriced add-ons.

After all, it's points, innit? It's not like you're spending real money...

I've just ordered a new PC, and the way these 360 points purchases are going, I may be headed back to PC gaming.

I won't be buying these as I'm selling COD2! Only 8 players on Live is a fucking joke.

Hmm, a bit steep isn't it? I can understand paying a little, as they're just optional extras, but this is too much money to shell out for a few maps. Definitely a no-no.

great, less whiners online for everyone else to put up with then.

the price of 4 pints of lager is too much for the extra 200+ hours of gameplay these maps will probably bring??

or maybe just go out and spend £50 on GRAW and find its not that good after all.

I will be purchasing all the new maps, as I believe COD2 is a fantastic online shooter and new maps are very exciting.

They did not need to spend there time making these maps for us to download and could of left it as it was, the fact that some maps will be free should keep the people who believe it is expensive happy.

Remember it is a better deal than horse armour..!

Cor, two plants. I could make a potion out of those two on Oblivion.

Aren't all these being provided for free to PC owners. At least Bethseda charged them for horse armour too. Besides which X360 owners have already been asked to put up with months of pish poor online performance before a patch was released and fewer online options than PC owners.

You'd think they should give the maps out free as compensation and a goodwill gesture, or at least at a reasonable price. 1300 is ~ £10 = just under half the cost of the PC game if you managed to get it for £25 - and that is with all the associated physical manufacturing costs.

900 is too much. That's more than the Rainbow Six assault packs, and that game had the decency to work properly online to begin with. I think if these maps were usable is some single player modes I might be tempted, but the online of CoD2 is so crap that I'll not be picking this up purely for that.

It is a shame... with games like Ghost Recon (the first one, on original Xbox Live) there were loads and loads of great little maps given away for free.

As others have said - great idea, but the price is too hig. I think i nthe long run when the novelty runs out people will vote with their wallets and the price will come down.

do any of you actually play this game on live?

everyone I ask is stoked for these new maps, and many people have been saying for ages that the game needed some new maps.

The online side of the game is awesome since the patch, it is still unmatched as the finest game on the 360 at the moment.

I agree with you t8yman although G.R.A.W is fantastic online also (If you are on a good map, I.e. Old Town, Treasury, Nowhere, Fishing Village)

I cant see what the problem is with having to pay for an add on extra, if it is not essential to the game and just a bonus add on.

I can’t wait for these maps and will be spending hours on them online as soon as they are available.
