New Black trailer and shots
See the opening level.
EA's released a brand new 90MB trailer of Criterion's frantic PS2 and Xbox FPS Black, showing off the destructibility of the game's opening lobby section, as well as a selection of brand new screenshots.
The trailer, which you can nab from Eurofiles, sees the player blowing chunks out of pillars with grenades and showering the area in clouds of dust by raking the scenery with automatic gunfire.
Rather like Monolith's excellent F.E.A.R., Criterion's paying its respects to the "shooter" bit of "first-person shooter", concentrating on the fun you can have with big guns in a gorgeous game engine, shunning stealth, squad commands and other distractions, and drawing inspiration from Hollywood action films from the '80s and '90s.
Playing as Sergeant First-Class Jack Kellar, you're sent off to Eastern Europe with your BLACK ops team and tasked with bringing in a traitor. By shooting the crap out of everything within eyeshot.
The full game's due out on PS2 and Xbox in early 2006.

Did it? What was supposed to be the best part? I appreciated the machine gun firing bullets and the grenades exploding. The bad guys seemed to die from it, and that was pretty neat. I'm no expert, though, so feel free to experience the degree of elation of your choosing.

Black seemes a bit easy though, hopefully they're on god-mode in the vids.

ali-uk - "3/4 is logos"
Freek - "30 seconds of logos and thne only 20 seconds of gameplay."
You guys are talking about the trailer showing the lobby right? If you are, then you're calculations are slightly out:
Trailer is 60 seconds long (approximate breakdown)
0-4 seconds = ESRB logo
5-10 = Criterion logo
11-14 = EA logo
15-19 = BLACK logo
20-53 = Gameplay footage
54-58 = BLACK logo
58-60 = 2006, PS2 and Xbox logo
In total, I calculate all of EA's logo's (Criterion, EA, Black - not including ESRB or date and formats) to add up to 16 secs. 16 secs of a 60 second trailer is 26.6%, or in other words, just a tiny bit over a quarter. How is that the same as "60% logos and 40% game footage", "3/4 is logos" or "30 seconds of logos and thne only 20 seconds of gameplay." ?
Unless, of course, I've been watching a different trailer :/
