FootMan 2007 demo

In manageable sizes.

Sports Interactive's latest, Football Manager 2007, is now available to try out in demo form on both PC and Mac, giving you the chance to break in this year's tracksuit. (I can't do that joke in both items?)

As promised, there are "vanilla" and "strawberry" versions of the demo for both formats, allowing you to download relatively little if bandwidth's at a premium, and relatively a lot if it's not.

The difference, in each case, is that the vanilla version consists of just the English league and language files, while the bigger strawberry groans under the weight of playable Brazilian, Danish, English, Finnish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Scottish, Spanish and Swedish leagues, with accompanying languages for most, along with all the relevant player photos and graphics shorn from the vanilla run.

In terms of file-sizes, the vanilla PC is 80MB and Mac 66.45MB, while the strawberries are 260.43MB for PC and 248.67MB for Mac.

Naturally there's a big old list of mirrors over on SI's website, and there's no need for me to shoehorn Peter Crouch's acrobatic excellence into a sentence about new features because you can just read our handy first-impressions instead.

Football Manager 2007, published by SEGA, is due out on 20th October for PC and Mac, with PSP and Xbox 360 versions to follow before Christmas.

    Interface speed is better. Match speed is better - slower as it was way too fast before IMO.

    Has the skin's font changed? Like the icons at the bottom though.

    Haven't played much of FM2006, but I definitely enjoyed this. The icons at the bottom help a lot, and the player interaction is good stuff. I'll be getting this for sure.

    This is the good one, developed by the original CM guys, right ?

    Amazon says: PC release 27th October;

    Game.co.uk says: PC release 17th November;

    Personally, I'd go with gameplay or play.com's release date, though gameplay say 27th and play say 20th. At least we know Game are wrong...games don't come out on Tuesdays.

    I'd go with the developers if SI Games say the 20th it is the 20th especially as this the gold demo and not a beta demo or anything, the confusion comes as the moved the date forward a week. I'm not sure what EG and Game are doing though... some kind of weed probably, do keep up lads.

    Ahh, EG has changed it to the 20th October.

    I wonder how gullable they are....

    SIGames says PC release 11th October......

    Football Manager 2007 will be available from 20th October and I'm sure over the coming days and weeks you'll see online stores update their websites to reflect this.

    @LetsGo

    bwahaha... thats sarcasm correct?

    to Tom Bramwell. You need to stop talking about Liverpool in your articles this is the second one today! (The other being the CM 2007 demo)

    You also spoke about Liverpool when announcing the FM2007 demo and I quote, "Naturally we'll remind you about it once it's up. In the meantime, head over to the Sports Interactive forums for more information and lively debate. For example, about how Liverpool crushed Spurs today."

    This sort of crap needs to end. I'm not a rattled Everton fan, I don't even support anyone in the Premiership but could you please stop mentioning Liverpool from now on?

    Neil, Miles

    Any word on that 360 demo. It is how I decide to buy all my Xbox 360 games these days.

    Not sure if I really want you to put it on there. I will get addicted again. Its been a few years since I've got into it, the 3d pitch never really did it for me. 00/01 was the most significant game I've ever played

    No, the latest released + patch.
  • thefilthandthefury #19 5 years ago

    Weird that our website would say different. Our list in store says October 20th. It's even on our big poster.

    Interface - yuck (but not as horrid as BGS')

    No premier pics/logos - yuck :(
    Oops, think there is in larger demo :) My bad.

    But same quality game, only up a notch or two! Once the annoying match speed (too fast or too slow), pics/logos/reskinning provided by modders it'll be nice :)
