ChampMan 2007 demo

Beautiful's beautiful game.

Eidos and Beautiful Game Studios have released a demo version of Championship Manager 2007, giving you the chance to break in this year's tracksuit.

The demo, which is 127MB, allows you to play for six months in the English, French and Italian leagues - with those language options available to play with, too. Bon.

As well as letting you manage in those and a number of other major leagues, CM 2007 also introduces International Management, so you can practice ignoring David Beckham's phone calls too, as well as a new Match Analysis Tool so you can get an idea of how high off the ground Peter Crouch has to be to score overhead winning goals in Champions League ties.

Anyway, to download the demo just head over to www.cm2007demo.com. The full game's due out on 13th October.

    A real progress !

Matchs are better than previous version, it's very pleasant to see its players building action and defnedres try to stop them :) animation are fluid, and the slope offers better seen movement of the ball.

The tool ProZone is very useful to peel its matches, we see exactly what it doesn't go.

The game is still quickly, I don't sleep in front of my screen...

Very good job BGS, I will buy it when I's released

    I must agree, its ace!

    /cancels FM2007 preorder!

Just feels like a poor imitation of FM06 & FM07.

Reading some of the other comments I can see that it has made improvements over previous years(which I haven't played since SI moved on) which is positive, and it's good that there is competition to FM07, but why don't the developers/Eidos stop imitating now and start innovating.

It feels like an attempt to wring the last few bucks out of unsuspecting punters and cash in on the name - which might not be the case and unfair of me to say, but you asked...

I don't think that FM have ProZone or the gameplan...

You know all games of football management are the same ones, you must manage a team! :)

The recent trend of automatic-assumption by some that "FM is ace and no matter what CM does it will be rubbish" is getting painful to read. Automatic knee-jerk reaction.

It's akin to those cretins who automatically shout that anything by EA is rubbish without ever having played the games they're rubbishing.

    Sheep.

Why all the Liverpool references in football articles at Eurogamer? I'm guessing the writer is a Liverpool fan. This needs to stop and stop now because everytime I read a football related story here I don't want to have to hear about someone going on about Liverpool every single time or at all! We all get enough of that with people like Hanson on MOTD so I don't expect to see such Liverpool related crap here (No, I am not an Everton fan).

I like it. There are some great new features, ProZone in particular. It looks much better these days and still thrashes FM (2006) in terms of play speed. The match engine seems much improved and it generally feels like a properly polished game. I'll give the FM2007 demo a try too before making my mind up.

KennySim: Tom is a Liverpool fan... and I don't think he'll ever stop mentioning it - sorry!
  • KennySim #13 5 years ago

rauper - I don't care. I don't expect the writers to be going on about their own team constantly. It is not needed and its just poor writing.
  • immateriaux #14 5 years ago

I've Red the article and now feel much more likely to 'pool resources and Kop the game soon I think.

It's definitely, unlike Liverpool FC for example, a lot better this season.

It' a very beautiful game! Try it! There are many massive improvements from the last game (CM2006). I love the ProZone option! And the game is very very fast!

Cool, can try both out! Just looked at the screenshots... hmm, still looking a bit MSDOS for me but hey, hopefully it can be reskinned (although BGS could have taken lead over SI here).

With the mighty Tom Hooper over there in design now, I expect great things of this demo... ;)

    Sports managers. Ugh.
  • T4RG4 #18 5 years ago

Argh, still making exactly the same mistakes as last year with interface and completely putting the Player in the dark as to why he cant continue with the game. Right at the start after clicking continue... what on earth am I waiting for, why can I not continue?

If this is the 'accessible' management game, you need to make it so. You need to sit people in front of your games, without any information and ask them to play it and take their feedback on board. Rant over, I wish BGS the best of luck.

Wow, look at all the trolling FM/SI fanboys in here....

Since its reincarnation with CM5, the CM series has been branded "a joke". CM2006 was a massive improvement, but still, the "joke" branding that came from CM5 lingered on...

HOWEVER, not only is CM2007 NOT "a joke", its a bloody good game, so its about time the trolls updated their opinions and actually played it before commenting. Reasons?

    1) Its lightening fast! Seriously, you press to continue, and a few seconds later, your at the next screen. Having played all the football management games, (including the latest demo's) CM2007 is the only one that can seriously claim to be fast. The "tea break" after pressing continue is long gone with CM2007.

    2) ProZone. Lets not underestimate this feature. ProZone is used by international and club teams, ranging from the English National team to Manchester United and Chelsea. You got slaughtered in your last game? This will tell you exactly why, just like in real life. By pressing a few buttons, I was able to see exactly why my wingers were underperforming, and why I wasnt creating chances from out wide. I amended my tactics accordingly, and what do you know? It worked! Great job BGS!

    3) Scouting and staff feedback. Even the more "mature" footie management sims couldnt get this right, but CM2007 has. It actually feels that my backroom staff have something to do in this game, that they actually contribute to the success/failure of my team rather than they just sit there and look pretty to contribute to the "realism". The Scouts in particular are actually very helpful at finding good players, and excellent youngsters, and give you plenty of (relevent and helpful) information about them

    4) Team talks. Again, another feature present in "the others", but not implimented anywhere near as well as in CM2007. The range of comments is excellent, and you actually get to see the results of your teamtalk/individual chat both on the field, via the assiatant (who will point out how your talk affected certain players), and via the news screen, where players will comment on what you said to them after the game.

    5) Pre-Match Instructions. Have a known "hot-head" on the other team? Get your team to wind him up so he'll do something to get himself sent off. What about that opposing winger, he's brilliant isnt he? Then get your team to intimidate him so he underperforms against you ;) .Feel your team should be "going in hard" on a certain player? Yep, you can do that too!

There is more, but I feel that i've said enough to make my point ;)

Now before i'm dismissed as some kind of fanboy, let me tell you that i'm a CM and FM fan, and will be getting both games this season.

The point that i'm trying to make is that with CM2007, BGS have finally laid to rest the ghosts of CM5, and have finally stopped anyone apart from trolling idiots calling the CM series "a joke".

You'll be missing out if you dont get this game, its excellent, great job BGS.
  • T4RG4 #20 5 years ago

You'll be getting both games? I'm sure there are a handful of people who will, but really... like anyone who loves these kind of games has time to play them both, tsk.

    Marmite wars.
