Sing your socks off

Sony offers you the chance to "be" your own pop idol.

Sony London's Sing (working title) got its first showing at PSEx as well this year. The EyeToy team's new project is based around the concept of karaoke, except the software analyses the pitch, tone and rhythm of players competing with the USB microphone, encouraging them to improve their warbling techniques or lose trying.

The game will feature fully licensed tracks to sing along to and will launch in three different musical flavours; Pop, Urban and Classics. We can expect a full career mode which has players climbing the ladder of fame and performing for a loyal throng of adoring fans, plus a party mode featuring song challenges, duets, battles and team competitions. No word on whether you'll be able to combine it with the EyeToy to make your own music videos yet, but if not - why not?
