Peter Jackson is executive-producer of Halo, not exec-director....I think.

MGS has the potential to be a terrible movie. I love the series, but just imagine those cutscenes acted out in real life... urgh.

"Various directors and writers have been connected with it - even everyone's favourite Uwe Boll"

Aye, and Kojima basically turned around and said "With him?! Never gonna happen!". It was a good day.

MGS as Anime yes, styled like Ghost in the Shell 2 or Final Fantasy... Oh YEAH!... as Hollywood Bollocksbuster with Apple Pie actors... No.

Doom anyone?

Sounds more like he wants to make it into a movie at some point rather then it actaully being in pre-production.

If Kurt Russell doesn't play snake this film will probably be pants. Though I am well aware he's long passed his sell by date...pretty much sums up my views on a MGS movie...

I thought he'd already made movies, with the occasional interactive part anyway. ;-P

You seen that Rocky and Rambo are Stallone's next two films? Don't count anybody out as it seems _anything_ is possible with 'movie magic'.

Hell, if Harrison Ford (and friends) actually does the next Indy for 2007, he'll be five years older that Sean Connery was when he played his Dad in Last Crusade.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

I saw Silent Hill this weekend. It's TERRIBLE. Plenty worse the Resident Evil.

Save your money folks!

Well, I think it could be pretty good. Get Sean Penn in as Snake - give him a bandana and plenty of stubble. Would be nice.

It's gotta be David Hayter. He did the voice acting for Snake in all 3 MGS games and he's also got a strong resemblence to Snake himself.

It won't work as a movie. The story in the games only really works in the context of a game due to the 'comic book' nature of it. Trying to translate a story like that into an actual film is asking for trouble.

Oh God, the stories in the games are bad enough, I can't imagine what monstrosity will be pushed at the cinema going audience by Kojima and his wildly oversized ego!

I think a moody war-hardened Snake could make an excellent film character if the right actor is chosen, enhanced with some super cool slow mo stunts and Harry Gregson's score in the background.

Id be worried about the wacky story lines and unreal bad-guys that can take bullets to the head or control bees! Im sure the general public wouldnt 'get' the film unless everything was laid on a plate for them.

Silent Hill wasn't the best film ever, but it wasn't crap from a fans point of view. And it was miles better than the resident evil movies.

Also I admit Kurt Russell could star and make a comeback. Especially with the direction they've gone in MGS4 with the older Snake. I think it could work.

Remember the movie 'The Rock' with Nicolas cage and sean connery. That pretty much is a MGS style movie, with the stunts and gregson williams score.

Awesome.

Dunno who should play Snake... Maybe Keifer Sutherland in a mullet wig. That Sean Penn was pretty good. Or perhaps Carlos Bernard, who plays Tony Almeida in 24? As long as it's not Ben Affleck, I'll be happy.

Actually, Clive Owen could do it. He's a hard bast.

One thing I do know is that Rade Serbedgia, the actor who plays "Boris the Blade" in Guy Ritchie's "Snatch" HAS to play Revolver Ocelot. He's a great actor and perfect physical match. And Russian.

Depending on whether it's an all new story or a film interpretation of an existing game, some suggestions:

Michael Clark Duncan as Vulcan Raven.
Gene Hackman as Colonel Campbell.
Marilyn Manson as Psycho Mantis (joke).
Kurt Russell as Solidus Snake.

The Silent Hill movie wasn't bad, so there's still hope for videogame movies. Then again, Metal Gear doesn't really translate to a movie that well.
