Full Auto turns to PlayStation 3

Sequel to be PS3 exclusive.

The vehicular combat of Pseudo Interactive's Full Auto is to return this E3 - but to PlayStation 3 rather than Xbox 360.

That's because SEGA's just announced Full Auto 2: Battlelines, exclusive to the PS3, retaining the original game's time-rewind "Unwreck" feature and adding lots of new vehicles, weapons, tracks and multiplayer modes.

Pseudo and SEGA are playing up the way track conditions will change dynamically. In Full Auto 1, players could cause a lot of destruction, sometimes messing things up for those following behind; in Full Auto 2, SEGA reckons it's or paramount import.

"The destructible environments in Full Auto 2: Battlelines are both stunning and strategic, especially in multiplayer combat," says SEGA's Scott Steinberg.

In terms of vital stats, SEGA says Full Auto 2 will features 25 vehicles, 20 plus weapons, multiple paint schemes and wheel styles (so, upgrades), and more than 20 race tracks. Online, multiplayer modes include team-play, deathmatch and assault variants.

We should be able to bring you more on the game during E3, although there's no word on when it's due out. Those with short memories can find our review of the Xbox 360 original elsewhere on the site.

I agree... sounds like Full Auto v1.1 to me ;)

Wow a real coup for Sony.

Seems like everyones taking the PS3 as a chance to rerelease their mediocre games (Ridge Racer 7, Full Auto 2). I wouldn't be surprised if there were more of these on their way.

    Ridge Racre 7 is 'mediocre'?

    It never has been.

Neither was Full Auto 2. The previous games, Full Auto 1 and Ridge Racer 6 were. I don't expect both sequels to be improved that much.

err it hasn't even been released so you can't make a judgement either way but looking at the recent versions the series is getting pretty meh & tried.

Full Auto was fun but not great. Don't care about sequel.

So is this how 'exclusives' are going to work next gen, then? Game X is released as 'exclusive' on one platform, the immediately after Game Y is announced as 'exclusive' for the other, even though both games appear to be nigh-on identical?

    We're not stupid, y'know.

Thats what they do with TVs in Currys and Comet to avoid price promises! Same TV, different product code, hence different "product"! Not that that bears any relation here, but you know what I mean. I think.
  • Blerk #10 6 years ago

I think that's very relevant, actually!

No loss to the 360. That game sucked.

Prospecting PS3 owners around the world rejoice.

One lousy game gone, so what

Well first of all, I don't like Ridge Racer but I don't think it has ever been mediocre - it still has a surprisingly large fanbase. Second, we won't know about Full Auto 2 unless it is released. So I guess all the XBoys can be a little patient before starting the mud slinging.

And yes, I guess many below average games will make it to the PS3, just like PS2 became the dumping ground for unloved/unplayable games. Ultimately every platform has its share of clunkers. However, a REASONABLE person wouldn't hold them as the sole criteria of judging a console.

Pfft, screw japan, all i have to say to japan is Wii
  • Steroyd #17 6 years ago

wow this is odd, and from the sounds of it they're going to make Full Auto to like Fatal Inertia on wheels.

But why jump patform completely instead of going multi-platform?

Seems that roles are being reversed, the XBox got revamped PS2 games with extra levels etc. now the PS3 will get the extras.. i'd also hazard a guess that sales of the game were poor on the 360 so makes sense to try to recoup some $$$ with a PS3 version.

Well Full Auto sucked arse, Sony can keep it.

How will the 360 manage with just the likes of Halo 3 and Gears of War without Full Auto and whatever other crappy series is trying to sell out?

I look forward to the Wii though, will be great to see every 3rd party and his dog release shitty games with Wiiifiied controls. But not even revolutionary controls can save a shit game.

Which is what Full Auto was, a shit game.
