First WipEout PSP content online

Lagging behind but not for long. Exclusive content promised.

US owners of WipEout Pure can take advantage of a second Classic Pack of new content today, but while European gamers will have to wait, it should be worth it - with the entire catalogue of WipEout content due before the end of October and a Europe-exclusive Omega pack set to top things off at an undisclosed date.

The Downloads page accessible through the European version currently only lists the first Gamma Pack, and doesn't appear to recognise the content we downloaded with our American version - much as it is with US and Japanese save-games, which don't work with European games in our experience.

However, Sony has been in touch to share news of the release schedule for existing content. The Gamma Pack listed consists of all the Gamma content released in the US - which means an entire tournament. In the coming weeks, we can also expect Delta (Sept 16th - brought to PSP in association with Puma), and Classic Packs 1 and 2 (October 3rd and 16th respectively).

Meanwhile across the pond our Yankee friends are already able to take advantage of the Classic Pack 2, which opens up Odessa Keys and Porta Kora tracks, as well as two more skins.

I thought the DL content had been included on the disc? Where'd I read that?
  • Furbs #2 7 years ago

Doesnt make any mention of extra content in the manual Derbs, but that doesnt mean alot I know :p

What sort of size are these downloads btw?
  • Derblington #3 7 years ago

Hmmm, I thought they'd included all the DL stuff on the disc so that the UK vers. was the same as the US with the extra packs. That way when new packs are released they'd be universal.

    Oh well.

I also heard that the download content was included on the disc.

First from the GameCentral news pages and then a few days later from an employee at GameStation.

Stuff the stupid skins, I want more Zone tracks!

Must be the best bit about WP, but it's been completely forgotten.
  • feki #6 7 years ago

Actually, it's not gamma pack 1. It's gamma pack 1-4 bundled together as one, from what I've read on wipeoutpure.com. I.e. the entire gamma tournament, and skins and the Tigron ship. It clocks in at 13 megabytes. The previous gamma packs for the US version were 3.5 + 8.8 + 5.9, so, ...

Hmm I downloaded it and in the psp menu it just says corrup about the file I got :(
  • brombeer #10 7 years ago

Download it via the game itself. I got the same when downloading from PC. But after downloading it from within the game (with option online), it works fine.
  • Bumbuliuz #11 7 years ago

    Thanks will try that ;)
  • Furbs #12 7 years ago

Yeah I got the corrupt data thing too. Will try direct from the game, thanks for the tip :)

Anyone tried the Wipeout browser "hack" yet? (its not really a hack to be honest though, and doesnt need any firmware modding or anything either). Theres a tutorial up on pspcrazy.com

wifi hack works (on jpn psp with us wipeout), just run moops or another dns redirector on your machine (you may be able to play with the hosts file as well on windows i think). setup the wireless so your psp see's the pc, start the browser in wipeout and it will connect to your pc, the browser is redicected to the local web server and you get to see your web pages.

Gamma pack 4? have i missed a us one then?
i have 1-3 but didn't realise there was a 4 out and i didn't bring my psp in today.
  • Feanor #15 7 years ago

I'm sure there were only 3 Gamma Packs. I have all 3 of them on my American PSP so I have 4 extra tracks and the Gamma tournament. No more room on my memory stick for Classic Packs 1 and 2 though. :(
  • feki #16 7 years ago

D'oh. Of course, there were only three gamma packs. Slight confusion on my part. Me bad.

Feanor: The Classic pack 1+2 are ace so far. A new ship (Goteki 45) and three fun and very nice-looking tracks. And an awesome VanUber skin.

Are you just being mean or do you have shares in SanDisk? :)
  • nuxx #18 7 years ago
