Explosive Defcon videos

(Sorry.) Four gameplay trailers.

It's looking like a bit of a slow day, so we thought we'd draw your attention to a few videos chucked up in the dying stages of last week - an overview trailer and four gameplay videos from Introversion's exciting-looking Defcon.

The gameplay videos give you a chance to see how combat plays out across the world as defcons change and gentle music accompanies the eerie march to Armageddon. And when that happens, as the game says, "everybody dies".

You can watch parts one, two, three and four of the gameplay trailer onslaught on EGTV now. And if you fancy a neatly edited recap of what Defcon's about (including flowers and everything), check out the main trailer.

Defcon's due out in September. For more details, stomp through our preview/interview from earlier this year.

Looks absolutely brilliant. Shame there's no massive lasers in it, though.

Stopped watching the Eurogamer TV videos, due to that prey trailer. I simply cannot watch it again.

I *want* to like this, as im all for indie development.

But at the end of the day, it's just another RTS game.. But with shit graphics.

    Seen it all before...

I want to see indie developers pushing boundaries and doing stuff the big publishers are too scared to do.

    (If you get me?)

There's a cap on them now, gizmo. You only get one every six hours.

    Manic:

Yeah, I agree.. BUT at the end of the day it's just another rts game with different visuals.

Not that I dont applaud anyone who TRIES to make indie games though.

I'd just love to see some people experiment with brand new gameplay ideas which the mainstream publishers wont touch with a barge pole.

Yeah. Any game that falls into an existing genre is boring now. I dont want any more puzzle games, platform games, driving games, sports games, shoot-em-ups, RTS's, turnbased strategy, RPGs, simulations, adventure games, FPS's, 3rd Person Shooters or management games.

Unfortunately most publishers only interested in fps, racing, sports and rts games.

    (in that rough order)

Just because you're Indie shouldnt meant you have to be 'crazy'. Make what you bloody want to make, thats often why people want to go indie isnt it? Personally I think there is a hell of a lot of mileage left in 'existing' genres. It's all about making 'good' games at the end of the day.

I dont dream about making a brand new game experience, I dream about playing a game I actually enjoy. (Well, I dont dream about it but you know what I mean, I hope).
