Meteos blasts into UK sight

A release date? About time.

Nintendo has finally found time to give an official release date to spanky DS puzzler, Meteos.

The game that charmed us like few others on the format will at last be coming to our shores on September 23rd. That's over two months later than the US got it. For some reason.

So rest assured, we'll all eventually be able to partake in the fast paced, block falling addictive action goodness by Q Entertainment, for £29.99. Just later than everyone else. As usual.

And a quick check of the release schedule reveals that Nintendo is releasing more games on the GBA than the DS in the coming months.

    Ho BLOODY hum.

    Gits.

BlankOBlank: Thats the problem when nintendo's platforms rely heavily on nintendo games; its been a problem since the N64 days, and continues to be a problem now.

Oh I know that only too well, Celeborn. I've had a love/hate relationship with Nintendo since the Super Famicom we coerced our dad into buying.

You and Nintendo coerced your dad into what now?

I wonder if the Nintendo DS is starting to lose the initial super-innovative glow. We have already rubbed, scraped, cut, pat, pushed, pulled, felt, touched, lead and so forth, so will the console end up being a slightly more powerful GBA with a potential second screen for the "important" add-ons like touchable inventory screen?

I predict a sudden death for the console as soon as they stop finding different ways of taking advantage of the touchscreen. But I also predict a bright future for the homebrew point'n'click adventure seen, especially using ScummVM.

The touchscreen is an interface, it's not a make or break addition to the console. Without it you've still got an online-enabled handheld with 3D graphics and a raft of developers creating for it. It's like saying "I wonder if the playstation will die now people are sick of using the twin-analogue sticks".

As for a sudden death, you are kidding right? With Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros and Metroid Prime Hunters coming out in the next few months from Nintendo alone, plus strong continuing sales of the device the world over, you'd have to be stupid to think that the DS has anything less than a very rosy year ahead.

Oh, and to clarify I think the touchscreen has been used to brilliant effect in Meteos, Pac-pix, Kirby's Cursed Canvas, Yoshi's Touch & Go and Wario Ware Touched!, plus you've titles such as Trauma Center, Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble, Pac 'n' Roll and Lost in Blue coming in the next few months that also seem to use the touch-screen to great effect.

...sorry, seemed to have ranted a bit there!

is it worth importing this from usa? will the multiplayer work?? has anyone any firm info on cart incompatabilities between usa and euro? am i asking too many questions?
  • asphaltcowboy #11 7 years ago

Chonk, we've been over this a thousand times! Check the bottom of this thread. There is single cart play for 4 people, but (and I didn't know this when I bought it) it also has a mutli-cart mode. I'm not sure what's included in that... Frankly, the single cart is awesome on it's own, but if you know other people that are waiting for a UK release taht you'll be able to play with, I guess you should wait, otherwise just import it!
