Next-gen GTA screen fake

Rockstar tells us so.

Rockstar has confirmed to Eurogamer that the supposed screenshot of the next-gen instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series is indeed "a hoax."

'Next-gen GTA screen fake' Screenshot 1

NOT a screenshot of the first next-gen GTA game, we can assure you.

The pic in question originally appeared on gaming website Jeux France. It's since been removed with no word of an explanation, but not before making its way round the Internet first.

Jeux France claimed that GTA next-gen would launch on PS3 initially, featuring a playing environment six times the size of that in San Andreas and more than 350 vehicles. The site also said that an online multiplayer option was being considered.

Rockstar told us that the hoax tag covers "all these details as well", however - so that's that.

But of course that's not to say a next-gen GTA isn't in the pipeline - and when the first details and screens really are revealed, we'll let you know.

Looks more like an architectural rendering to me. The cars and padestrians have none of that 'GTA' style.

    HA! They didn't expect that!

I would have to agree with JHuxley. The cars and ppl feel like some rendering program that architechts use to show how things will look. More likely Max though.

Why, Why, Why?!?! Who on earth decided it would be a good idea to go and post a "fake" next gen GTA screenshot? What r they getting from this? It must have been made up by the internet site just to generate a bit of traffic...

well now. jeux-france removed it long before it 'made its way round the internet'.

C-mon how could that fool you ? GTA graphics have always been absolute sh*t , the next gen versions are going to look sh*t aswell , its not even a good game anyway , after uve killed a few prostitutes its just borein!
  • L0cky #9 7 years ago

    well that seals it then.
  • davidstop #10 7 years ago

Indeed those are characters used for architecural renderings. In fact, they're cut outs from photographs, so it wasn't the best choice for a fake screenshot.
  • captain-future #11 7 years ago

c'mon, should this really be news @ Eurogamer?
  • Hunam85 #12 7 years ago

Well id say it was news worthy, debunking myths, id rather know that not

Petay_Pan, you could also says thats true for real life....
  • KreyAtiv #13 7 years ago

Well, it may not be a next-gen GTA screen, but it could be another title they are working on. Either that or someone in the Rockstar camp was messing around on their lunchbreak with the next-gen software and e-mailed it around to a few of those "Promise to keep this to myself" types, who aren't exactly that.
But we can always hope the next-gen GTA looks a bit realistic. Not too realistic or it'd end up like Driv3r. Otherwise there'd be cop cars dropping from the sky on top of you, when you thought you had escaped.
  • KreyAtiv #14 7 years ago

Which happened within 5 minutes of putting Driv3r into the machine, and as you can imagine put quite a damper on the Driv3r experience.

Those figures have no grounding in reality, Big_Bad_Blonde

I swear I read somewhere that they where planning on making the next GTA set across countries this time rather than as GTA:SA did, based in a County. Also that they are basing it in Europe as well...not sure where I read it though, hope its true!

im just hoping for REALLY populated cities. Like a pedestrianised town centre with hundreds of people visible, going about their daily duties.

In hovers me in my stolen apache......

If they do go for a next-gen GTA, I hope that they have it so that the cars you "borrowed" stay wherever you left them. With the exception of the police towing them to their impound yard. And they sort out the garage glitch, and not limit you to a certain amount of cars in it. As many as you can fit in would be ideal.
And they stay in there for a change. Speaking of change, it'd be nice if they expanded on the Food eating system. I mean they have to get rid of it someway. Why not make it a mini-game? Keep tapping X to relieve yourself while in the sitting position. Keeping the strain meter to a minimum or run the risk of passing out. :p And for the standing position, giving you the ability to aim. LOL. Get rid of all those cigarette butts etc. :D

San Andreas was too bloody big. Note to developers: I'd like to be able to complete games within a REASONABLE amount of time.

"I'd like to be able to complete games within a REASONABLE amount of time."

    ?!?!?!?!

surely you want to get your moneys worth? Id rather have a 30 quid game which takes me months to complete than one which can be finished in few weeks.
  • Genji #22 7 years ago

"surely you want to get your moneys worth? Id rather have a 30 quid game which takes me months to complete than one which can be finished in few weeks."

Then make some games cheaper and shorter. There was an article about it on EG a while ago. A game that takes "months" to complete just leaves less time for other games or - possibly - hobbies that aren't gaming-related.
