Episode One teaser

Dog's back!

With Half-Life 2: Episode One set for release on Steam today at 6pm UK time, Valve's sent out a fourth in its series of teaser trailers, again featuring the lovely Alyx Vance - this time accompanied by her mechanical pal Dog.

Alyx, as you'll know if you've read our review of the game, published this morning, plays a key role in the first episode - and accompanies Gordon Freeman for quite a significant chunk of the game.

Who knows how much Dog's in it though eh? Well, Kristan probably does, but he's asleep or on a plane or something, so we shan't ask him just at the mo'.

Anyway. Half-Life 2: Episode One. 6pm today. You can watch the previous teaser trailers elsewhere on the site.

Hmm...all this time I thought you went Alyx. Oh well - would have preferred seeing through the eyes of another one of the characters. That's why I liked the original Half-Life series.

Xiphos, I though hitting her with the crowbar is what should get the message across?

Maybe Gordon's gay? I don't recall a preference ever being made.

What with all the science and ultraviolence the man probably has little time for romancing.

"if you can read it in a book you should be able to play it in a game"

I always find tension-romances to be laughably weak story-telling whenever they crop up in TV, films and novels. It's become a lazy checkbox to tick whenever you find yourself with a leading lady, a leading man and only 30 minutes to save... the... world!

Yay for Dog, easily my favourite character bar none in HL2.

Sorry, there's just something so exceptionally appealing and lovable about a huge great powerful robot that is fiercely loyal and obediant... Alyx is fine but Dog was easily the highlight when it came to characters.

... almost a sad day when you realise the robots show more personality in a title than the human voice acting... (My opinion though, as good as HL2 was and the ways I could go on about how lovely the game is, the acting did get a little too camp at times.)

God that would turn HL2 into some terrible remake of Speed.
The previous poster was right, tension romances really don't work - I think thay actually say that in speed actually.

    EDIT: Actually.
