EGTV: Assassin's Creed interview

It's a real crowd-pleaser.

Those of us lucky enough to blag our way through the hallowed gates of this year's E3 will have observed that, aside from the usual slavering hyperbole for the platform holders, Ubisoft had one of the strongest offerings of the entire show.

Top of the French firm's list was the stunning and mysterious Assassin's Creed, the first next-gen title from hotshot studio Ubisoft Montreal -responsible for, amongst others, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

The pedigree of the team certainly whipped up interest, but it was the behind-closed doors presentation that really hammered home the potential of this medieval PS3 and (likely though unconfirmed) Xbox 360 adventure.

Indeed, in our very own E3 preview we breathlessly referred to it as "arguably Ubi's most exciting new title since it hit us with a Splinter Cell-Prince of Persia double whammy back in 2002." Cripes.

You can find out more about Assassin's Creed right now by checking out Eurogamer TV's exclusive video interview with creative director Patrice Desilets, where he reveals the origins of the story, the impact of next-gen technology and goes into detail about the innovative crowd mechanics operating at the heart of the experience.

The most interesting PS3 game so far for me personally. I'll be watching this one with interest.

I would have preferred an interview with the game's producer. ;)

    >I would have preferred an interview with the game's producer. ;)

So, their utterly transparent ploy worked a treat on you then? :-)

    Edit: reduced cynicism

"I would have preferred an interview with the game's producer. ;)"

Hot damn!! My mind has emptied, I don't even know what the words "transparent" and "ploy" mean anymore.

Anyway Thamuhacha, you seem to be suggesting that she is only there as a pretty face. Are you saying you think that pretty females can't also be skilled game producers too?

I would suggest it may only be "utterley transparent" when viewed through your cynic tinted glasses.

What are some of you like espicially Xiphos. You don't know her so shut up.

I would have preerred the interview with the game's producer without the £1,000 worth of makeup and 4 hours morning preparation before she gets the kit on, off

You mean makeup and preparation for youfself right?

    >I would suggest it may only be "utterley transparent" when viewed through your cynic tinted glasses.

    It's a fair cop.

However, in quite a few of the "team" photos that I have seen in various articles she is right at the front on her own. I'm not putting her down in the slightest, I only wish that the development teams I work with had someone that photogenic.

Anyway, if it makes things any better, I've added a smiley to my post

I could link to a couple. But that would make me feel like a stalker so I wont.
  • kangarootoo #13 6 years ago

    @Thamuhacha

Thats likely because she is the producer and thats a pretty senior role. Management up front when its photo time, its probably the same at BMW or anywhere else you could choose.

    @Tonka

Lol, methinks the gentleman doth protest too much.

Maybe. I'd rather interview the studio director or lead designer. It depends how their team is structured. Most producers I know are responsible for making sure that milestones are hit, budgets adhered to and assets supplied. Very important, but ask Kristan who he'd rather interview (under normal circumstances).

Anyway, the game looks awesome. She looks great. It's all going well.

Who cares. The main question is, how soon till an Xbox 360 release? Because it will be on Xbox 360 eventually. Ubi have a Soft spot for timed releases and junk!

You see what I did there!? :D

    ;)
  • BartonFink #18 6 years ago

    Wasn't it demoed at E3 on a 360? :)

So not very long I would suspect.

Also just watched the interview with Jade Redmond (hubba hubba) again and she said all next gens.

Looks like the only 'exclusives' will be from first party developers this time, with GTA4, Bioshock, Resident Evil 5, Alone in the Dark, Rainbow Six: Vegas, etc. coming to both PS3 and 360.

If they don't look better or have extra features on PS3 than on 360, Sony might get a hard time.
  • BartonFink #20 6 years ago

They won't and in the case of GTA will have exclusive content for 360. /shrugs
In fairness they still have games like MGS (not a fan), GoW, Team ICO, FF (can't wait for XIII), etc. All the fanboy malarkey (pronounced bullshit) aside things are looking good on the gaming front for both machines.
  • Les #21 6 years ago

Don't remember the statement explicitly saying the exclusive rockstar downloadable content was GTA related but even if it did, that still doesn't mean that PS3 will not get it's own 'exclusive' content... ;-)

Or maybe the 360 exclusive downloadable content is the stuff that didn't fit onto the regular dvd? ;-)

But if PS3 shows up a full year after 360 and it's games don't look at least a bit better and offer additional features like in the last gen with xbox vs. ps2, then those Sony designers really messed things up.

Who's looking fat? And surely Gears of War and MGS4 aren't looking poor.
