TimeShift demo released News

PC Xbox Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

1 February, 2006

As you may have spotted there's a TimeShift PC demo on Eurofiles.

The one-level demo allows you to get to grips with the FPS's time manipulation features - the idea being to engage in first-person combat and puzzles by pausing, rewinding and slowing time to make the best of things.

For example, you can pause time for a spell, chuck grenades and then unpause time to watch them explode.

The Atari-published FPS is made by Saber Interactive and due out on PC, Xbox and Xbox 360. The PC version is listed as March 24th on Atari's latest schedule with the 360 to follow in May.

It's worth noting that the InstallShield used in the demo sometimes gives a "code -6001" error. Atari advises that you can sort this out by deleting the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\0701" folder and, if that fails, renaming the whole "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield" folder to something else and trying again.

If you have other issues, Atari's posted more info on its forum and promises to sort out any other problems prior to release...

Anyone else find it deeply tedious? Horrible feel, too.

Well, this ran like an absolute PIG on my system (which runs Quake 4 fine at 1024x768 with details set to med / high).

Other than that, seems like another 'generic' FPS to me.............

You spoilsports. Far be it from you to write something like "Effing amazing - this is the real next gen" to make me feel happy about staring at my office computer screen for a whole day, then dividing the file into chunks through WinRAR and taking it home over two days on my 512 MB USB key.

Now I don't know even if I should install it.

And here I thought you had a super fast broadband connection at home and just downloaded it at work in chunks on to a USB key because of a weird religious belief or something. -_-

A lot of people have much faster internet connections at work than at home, Ceatlan.

Thanks to you guys, I am not even taking the second chunk of RARs to home today. I deleted the whole file. What a bunch of morbid souls :-(.

Promising trailers, game no dice - story of most shooters really, don't you think guys?
