New World Rally Champ game coming News

A new FIA World Rally Championship game is on the way for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

It's being developed by Black Bean Games and in-house studio Milestone, which previously produced SBK Superbike and MotoGP.

"Milestone has been working hard on this title and our expectations are really high," said Black Bean boss Virgilio Bixio.

"We will be able to provide the utmost competitive title that will provide extremely positive results. Furthermore, Milestone’s work is enriched by the overwhelming support we have received from the WRC community."

The new game is due to launch in 2010.

Milestone and Black Bean are made of awesome. The SBK games are great, the old Screamer games were great, really hoping this'll be great too!

Finally! A rally game that isnt just a platform for skateboarders and bmx bikers to show the world how RADICAL they are, but one that actually includes, and indeed mainly consists of, rallying!

Praise the lawd! My prayers have been answered!

I wont get into the hype just for that comment he made but instead ill have high expectations from them as well and if not that good I'll kick when released :P I do hope it's great though. They've indeed had done a great work on the other racing series. ^^

Well SBK 08/09 and Capcom's MotoGP 08 were mediocre-to-OK games from Black Bean Games/Milestone so, although I'm pleased that someone is making a 'proper' rally game, I'm not holding my breath that it'll be all that good. Where's DiCE when you need 'em?

I used to love Screamer Rally actually :)

The last decent proper rally game I remember playing was Rallisport Challenge 2 back on the old black xbox (by Dice too bizarrely considering everything else has been an FPS!). Be nice to get a decent rally game again

I am the target audience for this game, but the only Black Bean game I have played was their godawful SBK 08.

Shall wait for the demo, but will not be expecting anything too special from this lot.

Hmmm the SBK-games are OK, the MotoGP-games from Black Bean are awfull (the games from Climax are way better). So I'm I excited by an new WRC-game yes. Is Black Bean the best studio to do it? NO, that would be DICE (the guys who made the best rally-game ever in the form of Rallisport Challenge).

I think they also did the recently released Supercars V8 - which was a rather average TOCA style racer

(are they picking up the old school classic Codemasters racing games?)

@db3 Screamer rally worked with 3d cards. I believe I had a 3dFx card at the time with a whole 4Mb of graphics memory and this made Screamer Rally look fantastic for the time.

Glad to hear there's an authentic WRC game coming out but I've not been impressed so far with Blackbeans games so far.

Hope they prove me wrong, I really do, would be fantastic to have a proper rallying game.

I hate stupid DIRT and all its OTT Americanisation of racing.

Thank god. Lets hope its decent sim and not arcadey shite. Leave that to DiRT. Not that theres anything wrong with it as I have it and like it - its just hardly a rally game.

I don't mind if its rough around the edges in terms of visuals and polish, just need to get the feel of rallying right, if they can nail the sim handling then I'm all over this!

Superstars V8 felt like they had taken SBK and put cars in place of bikes.. Theryre problly taking that and putting lots of particles in for dust and reducing the road fritcion. Bing. Rally game.

The WRC games on the PS2 were good until they went the arcade route to fit in with the mainstream. Richard Burns Rally also pretty hardcore, a mix between that and the old Colin McRae games would be great in my opinion.

I also had a Voodoo card and I can't recall the 3D acceleration. I must be thinking of Screamer 2 which was slightly earlier.

great news.. hopefully it will counter the americanisation thats become of Dirt. I dont want nobody trying to be my "friend", begging me to call them, or anobody talking to me mid race in an annoying californian accent about how we're going to skip under rainbows together after the race.

I've looked all over the tinternet for when it's out and everyone is saying 2010 and thats it.Well I asked Black Bean Games when in 2010 will be out and I was told (wait for it) SEPTEMBER.Yes people SEPTEMBER just under a year away and it's ment to be THE rally game , but is it going to be that good only time will tell.....
